Abstract: A method and an apparatus for receiving broadcasting service information in a digital broadcasting system are provided to realize PSI/SI packet data optimized to processing capability of a controller and prevent overuse of a memory by selecting only PSI/SI designated by the controller and controlling the number of packets to be transmitted or a transmission time, thereby reducing power consumption of a DVB(Digital Video Broadcasting)-H receiver. A PID(Packet Identifier) filtering unit detects PSI/SI(Program Specific Information/Service Information) coinciding with a preliminarily set PID value from a received transport stream. A packet counter counts the number of the detected PSI/SI. A controller sets up a PID value for performing PID filtering to the transport stream packet, and reads the PSI/SI if the counted number of the PSI/SI reaches a preliminarily decided number.
