Abstract: Provided is a method for unfolding an external airbag comprising: a setting step of setting a sensing area in front of a vehicle; an object selecting step of selecting an object among detected objects within the sensing area by comparing TTE which is remaining time until a collision with an airbag cushion when an external airbag unfolding situation is assumed by considering a relative speed and overlap; a stability identifying step of identifying whether the vehicle is in a stable state or unstable state by comparing an expected yaw rate of the vehicle with a measured yaw rate; a predicting step of identifying whether an expected relative speed and overlap are over certain levels when a collision between the object and the vehicle is assumed; and an unfolding step of unfolding an external airbag when the vehicle is in a stable state and the expected relative speed and the overlap of the object are over the certain levels.
