Abstract: A film is described comprising a (meth)acrylic polymer and polyvinyl acetal polymer composition. A layer of an adhesive composition is disposed proximate the film. The adhesive composition has a tensile elastic modulus of less than 1 MPa at 25° C. and 1 hertz.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a multilayer pressure sensitive adhesive assembly comprising at least a first pressure sensitive adhesive layer superimposed to a second polymer layer, wherein a curable liquid precursor of the first pressure sensitive adhesive polymer layer comprises a low Tg (meth)acrylate copolymer and a high Tg (meth)acrylate copolymer having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of above 20,000 Daltons. The present disclosure also relates to a method of manufacturing such a pressure sensitive adhesive assembly and uses thereof.

Abstract: Curable and cured compositions as well as articles containing the curable or cured compositions are provided. The cured compositions are typically a semi-structural or structural adhesive. Advantageously, the cured compositions can be removed (e.g., de-bonded) from the various surfaces of the articles after the useful lifetime of the articles, to correct misplacement of a part during manufacturing, or to repair the electronic device. The separation step occurs using a direct current electric potential across the cured composition.

The curable composition may be used to prepare a tape that is initially soft (i.e., low-modulus), which enables a water-tight seal during an electronics assembly process at ambient temperatures, and then cures after UV-activation into a more rigid (i.e., higher modulus) tape that has a desirable balance of impact resistance (both tensile and shear impact), dynamic shear resistance, and pushout resistance.

Abstract: A method of thermoforming is described. The method comprises providing a multilayer polymer film comprising at least one first thermoplastic polymer layer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) greater than 60° C. and at least one second polymer layer; and thermoforming the multilayer polymer film into a three-dimensional shape. The second polymer layer can be characterized by one or more properties selected from i) a Tg ranging from 20 to 70° C.; ii) a molecular weight between crosslinks of no greater than 20,000 g/mole; and iii) sufficient crosslinking such that the second polymer layer lacks a thermal melt or softening transition at a temperature up to the decomposition temperature of the second polymer layer. Also described are multilayer films and articles, such as orthodontic aligner and retainer trays.

Abstract: A film is described comprises a (meth)acrylic polymer and a polyvinyl acetal (e.g. butyral) resin. In some embodiments, the film has a glass transition temperature (i.e. Tg) ranging from 30° C. to 60° C. In some embodiments, the film has a gel content of at least 20% or greater. In some embodiments, the film has an elongation at break of at least 175%. The film typically comprises photoinitiator as a result of the method by which the film was made. The film may be a monolithic film or a layer of a multilayer film.
