Abstract: PURPOSE:To concentrate a soln. with high efficiency by saving energy consumption by evaporating a solvent in the soln. continuously from a side of a porous material exhibiting capillary phenomenon. CONSTITUTION:A porous material 1 is dipped in a soln. 2 by disposing the material perpendicularly to the soln. A solvent or a volatile component in the soln. rises through the porous material and is allowed to contact with air 4 at a neighborhood 3 of the highest part. The solvent or the volatile component in the soln. 2 is evaporated by the air stream, and an amt. of the soln. corresponding to the evaporated amt. rises through the porous material and concentrated continuously. A desired component is allowed to react efficiently by concentrating the component and carrying out the reaction in the concentrated state of the component if a catalyst, enzyme, or fungus body is previously deposited or immobilized to the porous material. If the process is applied to alcohol fermentation or hydrolysis of an ester, generated alcohol is removed with saved energy consumption, and the hydrolysis of the ester is prompted.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a hollow yarn membrane having high gas separating capacity by using a soln. contg. a polymer which is soluble or dispersible in a coagulating liquid as an internal coagulating liquid in a stage of producing a poly(ether)sulfone type hollow yarn membrane. CONSTITUTION:A hollow yarn membrane is produced by feeding a spinning soln. comprising polysulfone or polyethersulfone together with an internal coagulating liquid contg. a polymer soluble or dispersible in a coagulating liquid such as polyethylene oxide, silicone, polyvinyl alcohol, etc., through a double spinning nozzle into a coagulating liquid. Thus, the polymer contained in the internal coagulating liquid is coated on the inside of a hollow yarn membrane, or the polymer is filled in defects such as pores or cracks. Thus, the yarn is reinforced. Thus, a hollow yarn membrane having high gas separation capacity useful for oxygen enrichment, etc., is obtd. by a simple one stage process.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To regulate the concn. of a component by evaporating the desired component in a liquid to be treated not only from the surface of a liquid layer but also from the interior thereof, by a method wherein the liquid to be treated is supported by or a allowed to flow on the surface of a film a thin layer form and gas is transmitted through the liquid layer from the back surface of the film. CONSTITUTION:A liquid to be treated is pumped up from a liquid storage tank 7 by a pump 8 and passed through a flowmeter 9 and a thermostatic tank 10 to be sent into the inside route of a hollow yarn membrane through a pipeline 11. Further, gas passes through the thin layer of the liquid to be treated transmitted through the hollow yarn membrane and flowing down to be discharged. Because a gas flowing inside route is closed by a valve 16, the transmission of the gas from the inside of the hollow yarn membrane to the outside thereof is enabled. The treated liquid of which the concn. was regulated by evaporation flows out from the liquid side lower end outlet 12 of a membrane separator 6 to be stored in a liquid storage tank 13. The temp. in the separator can be measured by the thermocouple 14 inserted in said separator and the flow amount of the liquid to be treated can be regulated by the pump 8 and the flow amount of the gas can be regulated by a pressure regulating valve 2.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase retention of electrolyte, and enhance productivity and stability in quality by letting vinyl compounds be chemically reacted through graft polymerization after material made of resin in a polyolefin system has been treated through cold plasma process by radio waves. CONSTITUTION:Separator material W for a secondary battery in a alkaline system comes in a form of a film or unwoven cloth made out of resin in a polyolefin system stable against alkali, it is moistened by alcohol, and housed in a reaction tank 2 after it has been cleaned by pure water. The reaction tank 2 is filled with inert gas under a pressure of 0.05 to 5Torr, and the radio wave of 13.56kHz is irradiated from a radio wave irradiating electrode 3 so as to allow plasma process to be carried out. In this case, the output of radio waves to the material W shall preferably be 0.07 to 0.30W/cm , and process time shall preferably be 5 seconds to 10 minutes. Next, vapor of vinyl compound monomer M is introduced into the reaction tank 2 from a reservoir tank 9, and it is preferably processed within gaseous phase for 30 seconds to 10 minutes so as to be chemically reacted through graft polymerization. Since these reforming is carried out in a short time, productivity is thereby excellent.
