    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gelatinizer having biodegradability and high safety to living organism by reacting spiculisporic acid with a basic compound to produce a neutral salt. SOLUTION: This gelatinizer comprises a compound represented by the formula (wherein X is mutually same or different from each other and a metal atom or a group selected from the group consisting of an alkaline earth metal, Li, Al and an arginine residue; and (n) is 1 or 2). The galatinizer is usually used as an aqueous solution. The concentration of the compound of the formula in the aqueous solution is preferably 20 wt.% or below, more preferably 0.5-10 wt.%. To spiculisporic acid [(4S,5S)-4,5-dicarboxyl-4-pentadecanolide] is added an aqueous solution of a basic compound in excess of a calculated amount, and the resulting product is heated to obtain the compound of the formula which has the structure of ring operating of a lactone ring. An oil phase component and alcohol capable of gelation using this gelatinizer are monovalent alcohol, polyvalent alcohol, oil such as hydrocarbons, or the like.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a resin molded product having properties of shrinking at a prescribed temperature or above while retaining a state of released water with the lapse of time and dissolving in water and providing an aqueous solution at the temperature or below. SOLUTION: This shape memorizing resin molded product is produced by molding a hydrous material of a polymer or a copolymer, containing 60-100 mol.% of N-propylacrylamide unit and 40-0 mol.% of N-butylacrylamide unit as constituent units and having a molecular weight corresponding to >=2.0 intrinsic viscosity [η] at 27 deg.C when converted into a methanol solution. A cationic or an anionic surfactant at the critical micelle concentration or above is added to an aqueous solution containing a monomer mixture composed of 60-100 mol.% of the N-propylacrylamide and 40-0 mol.% of the N-butylacrylamide and the intramicellar polymerization or copolymerization is then carried out in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator at a temperature of the cloud point thereof or above until the intrinsic viscosity [η] of the methanol solution at 27 deg.C attains >=2.0. The resultant polymer or copolymer is subsequently molded, processed and solidified to produce the shape memorizing resin molded product.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a synthetic polymer compound exhibiting syneresis phenomenon, namely a synthetic polymer compound having properties in which a polymer compound naturally releases water by heating the aqueous solution of the polymer compound to cause shrinkage of the polymer compound and the polymer is clearly separated from water and provide a method for producing the polymer compound. SOLUTION: This heat-sensitive water-separating agent comprises a polymer or copolymer composed of 60-100 mol.% N-propylacrylamide unit and 40-0 mol.% N-butylacrylamide unit and having a molecular weight in which intrinsic viscosity [η] at 27 deg.C in methanol solution corresponds to >=2.0. This heat- sensitive water-separating agent is produced by adding a cationic surfactant or anionic surfactant to an aqueous solution containing a monomer mixture containing 60-100 mol.% N-propylacrylamide and 40-0 mol.% N-butylacrylamide in a concentration not lower than critical micelle concentration and carrying out intermicellar copolymerization at a temperature not lower than the cloud point until intrinsic viscosity [η] of methanol solution at 27 deg.C becomes >=2.0.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer beads having a very small particle diameter and being useful for diagnostic microbeads by adding a cationic or anionic surfactant in an amount to give a concentration equal to or higher than the critical micelle concentration to a specified aqueous compound solution, subjecting the obtained solution to a specified treatment, and removing the surfactant from the solution. CONSTITUTION:A cationic or anionic surfactant in an amount to give a concentration equal to or higher than the critical micelle concentration is added to an aqueous solution comprising an acrylamide compound which can give a homopolymer having thermoreversibly hydrophilic and hydrophobic dissolution properties (e.g. N-ethylacrylamide) to prepare a homogeneous aqueous solution, which is subjected to a cross-linking treatment by irradiation at a temperature equal to or higher than the cloud point, and the surfactant is removed from the solution. Thus, fine polymer beads having a particle diameter smaller than that of the conventional submicron beads and heat sensitive characteristics can be produced. These polymer beads can be used for diagnostic microbeads, sustained-release preparations, adsorbents, cosmetics, etc.

    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:N-(2-Methoxyethyl)-N-n-propylacrylamide expressed by the formula. USE:Useful as a raw material monomer for hydrophilic-hydrophobic heat reversible type high polymer compounds utilizable as a light shielding unit, temperature sensor, adsorbent, toy, interior, resist paste, display, separation membrane, mechanochemical material, etc. PREPARATION:Acryloyl chloride is reacted with N-(2-methoxyethyl)-n- propylamine and triethylamine in a solvent (e.g. benzene) kept at 0-10 deg.C to afford the compound expressed by the formula. The hydrophilic-hydrophobic heat reversible type high polymer compounds are reversibly soluble in water within a low temperature region, become insoluble within a high temperature region and have the transition temperature different from that of conventionally known heat reverisble type polyacrylamide derivatives.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a dyed material rich in unconventional high-class feeling by pretreating a textile product with a metallic mordant, printing the resultant textile product with a resist size consisting of a thermally reversible high polymer and then dipping the printed textile product in a noble metal hydrosol having negative charge above the phase transition temperature essential to the afore-mentioned resist size. CONSTITUTION:A textile product, such as silk or wool, is subjected to mordanting treatment with a metallic mordant and then printed with a resist size solution consisting of a thermally reversible high polymer, i.e., a high polymer (e.g., polyN-isopropylacrylamide) capable of phase transition from a hydrophilic (low temperature) to a hydrophobic phases (high temperature) with temperature in a state coexisting with water and the resultant textile product is then dipped in a noble metal hydrosol containing noble metal colloids having negative charge above the phase transition temperature essential to the afore- mentioned resist size to dye parts other than the above-mentioned printed part. The afore-mentioned size is subsequently removed with cold water below the phase transition temperature.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a reversible hydrophilic - hydrophobic polymer which is useful for light screens, temperature sensors, adsorbents, etc., by the radical polymerization of a specified vinyl compound. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl compound of formula I, i.e. 8-acryloyl-1,4-dioxa-8- azaspiro[4,5] decane, is submitted to radical polymerization to give the title polymer of formula II. This polymer is soluble in water at a low temperature zone and becomes insoluble in water in a high temperature zone reversibly. Unlike the thermally reversible polyacrylamide heretofore known, the present polymer has a transition temperature and can be utilized for light screens, temperature sensors, adsorbents, toys, interior goods, textile printing material, display equipment, separative membrane and mechanochemical materials. The compound of formula I can be obtained by reacting acryloyl chloride, 1,4- dioxa-8-azaspiro[4,5] decane and triethylamine in a solvent preferably at 0-10 deg.C (i.e. the reaction of formula III).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title thermoreversibly hydrophilic and hydrophobic compound having excellent strength and a high MW and being insolubilized in water when warmed, by radical-polymerizing N-isopropylacrylamide at a specified temperature in an alkyl acetate solvent. CONSTITUTION:N-Isopropylacrylamide is dissolved in an alkyl acetate solvent (e.g., ethyl acetate) of the formula (wherein n is 2-6) to form a solution of a concentration of 1-80wt% and radical-polymerized at 0-40 deg.C, preferably, 20-30 deg.C in the presence of, optionally, 0.001-5wt%, based on the vinyl compound, polymerization initiator (e.g., azobisisobutylnitrile) to give the title compound which is poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) of an intrinsic viscosity >=1.00 (in tetrahydrofuran at 27 deg.C). This compound is a thermoreversibly hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymer which is insolubilized in water when warmed and is useful for light-screening bodies, temperature sensors, adsorbents, toys, interiors, separative membranes, etc.
