Abstract: Organosilane/silicate copolymers obtainable by reacting an organic phosphosilicon compound of the formula I (I) where n, X, Y, R1 and R2 have the meanings stated in the description, with an alkali metal silicate, radiator antifreezes containing these compounds, their use as corrosion inhibitors in radiator antifreezes based on glycol, a method of inhibiting corrosion of aluminum by aqueous cooling media, containing radiator antifreeze based on glycol, during the cooling of internal combustion engines, and the use of organic phosphosilicon compounds for stabilizing silicates.

Abstract: 1. A glycol-based coolant mixture which is free of nitrites and phosphates, containing a) 1 - 5% by weight of an alkali metal salt of acid II see diagramm : EP0283806,P7,F1 where R is a -CH2 -, see diagramm : EP0283806,P7,F2 see diagramm : EP0283806,P7,F3 or CH2 CH2 CH2 group, b) 0.1 - 1% by weight of a silicate of the general formula III (MO)q SiO4-q/2 where M is an alkali metal and q is from 0.4 to 4, c) 0.01 - 0.2% by weight of a silicate stabilizer, d) 0 - 0.5% by weight of an alkali nitrate, e) 0.05 - 0.2% by weight of benzotriazole or tolutriazole, f) 0.5 - 2% by weight of borax, and g) 0.05 - 1% by weight of NaOH, all the percentages being based on the glycol present in the coolant mixture.

Abstract: Alkoxysilanes containing low levels of chlorine compounds are prepared by stepwise etherification of chlorosilanes with alcohols in liquid phase and removal of the resulting hydrogen chloride by reacting the alkoxysilane obtained, which still contains a small amount of chlorine compound, with a metal alkoxide in an amount which corresponds to a small stoichiometric excess based on the proportion of chlorine compound, and freeing the reaction product from the resulting salt.
