Abstract: The invention relates to alkylglycol alkoxylates and alkyldiglycol alkoxylates that are obtainable by alkoxylating C4-8 alkylglycols or diglycols with C2-5 alkoxides up to an average alkoxylation degree of 1 to 8, based on the C4- 8alkylglycols or diglycols. The invention further relates to mixtures from C2- 5 alkoxylates of C4-8 alkylgycols or -diglycols that have an average alkoxylation degree of 1 to 8 and tensides that have an interfacial tension of less than 45 mN/m at 20 ~C when dissolved in an amount of 5 g/l of water, and/or to diyhdroxyalkins or derivatives thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing an aqueous styrene-butadiene polymer dispersion by means of radical aqueous emulsion polymerisation of a monomer mixture M containing styrene, butadiene, and optionally up to 30 wt. %, in relation to 100 wt. % of monomers, of ethylenically unsaturated comonomers other than styrene and butadiene. The reaction is carried out in a polymerisation vessel according to a monomer supply method, in the presence of a regulator system comprising, in relation to 100 wt. % of monomers, between 0.02 and 0.5 wt. % of at least one hydrocarbon KW having between 6 and 20 C atoms and being selected from compounds forming a pentadienyl radical or a 1 - phenylallyl radical by means of abstraction of a hydrocarbon atom, an .alpha .- methylstyrene dimer, and between 0.3 and 2 wt. % of an organic compound S wi th at least one SH group. The inventive method is characterised in that at leas t 30 %, preferably at least 50 %, especially at least 80 %, and ideally the entire amount (or more than 95 %) of the hydrocarbon KW is present in the polymerisation vessel.

Said method is characterised in that the concentration of the butadiene in the monomer feed is increased by at least 10 wt. % in relation to the monomers in the feed process, for a period of at least 1 % of the entire feed duration, when at least 70 % of the monomers to be polymerised have bee n fed to the polymerisation reaction.

Abstract: A method of on-line monitoring and control of monomer conversion in emulsion polymerization includes continuously balancing, as from an initialization time, the heat QIN, introduced into the reactor, the reaction enthalpy QRE introduced via the monomer feed, and the heat which has been removed from the reactor QOUT, and calculating an amount of heat which has not been removed QAD which would lead to an increase in the internal temperature and the internal pressure of the reactor in the event of a spontaneous adiabatic reaction. A check is carried out as to whether the potential adiabatic temperatures and pressures always lie below prescribed upper limits. If the upper limits are exceeded, the monomer feed to the reactor is throttled back or interrupted.
