Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing polymer-phyllosilicate-nanocomposite-foam materials, by mixing cationically stabilised polymer-lattices with aqueous suspensions of anionic phyllosilicates, isolating and drying the obtained nanocomposites, impregnating the dried nanocomposites and expanding the impregnated nanocomposites. The invention also relates to a polymer-phyllosilicate-nanocomposite-foam material which is produced according to said method, a polymer-phyllosilicate-nanocomposite-foam material which contains a polymer and which can be produced by free radical polymerisation of vinyl monomers and phyllosilicate selected from the group consisting of smectites, vermiculites, micas and mixtures thereof, to a method for producing polymer-phyllosilicate-nanocomposites, in addition to polymer-hyllosilicate-nanocomposites containing one polymer and phyllosilicates selected from the group consisting of smectites, vermiculites, mica and mixtures thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing an aqueous styrene-butadiene polymer dispersion by means of radical aqueous emulsion polymerisation of a monomer mixture M containing styrene, butadiene, and optionally up to 30 wt. %, in relation to 100 wt. % of monomers, of ethylenically unsaturated comonomers other than styrene and butadiene. The reaction is carried out in a polymerisation vessel according to a monomer supply method, in the presence of a regulator system comprising, in relation to 100 wt. % of monomers, between 0.02 and 0.5 wt. % of at least one hydrocarbon KW having between 6 and 20 C atoms and being selected from compounds forming a pentadienyl radical or a 1-phenylallyl radical by means of abstraction of a hydrocarbon atom, an .alpha.-methylstyrene dimer, and between 0.3 and 2 wt. % of an organic compound S with at least one SH group. The inventive method is characterised in that at least 30 %, preferably at least 50 %, especially at least 80 %, and ideally the entire amount (or more than 95 %) of the hydrocarbon KW is present in the polymerisation vessel.

The invention further relates to a method for prod uction of xerogels, the xerogels obtained thus and the use of said xerogels as insulation and in vacuum insulation panels.

Abstract: Graft rubbers comprising a graft core and a graft sheath are prepared by selective hydrogenation of ethylenically unsaturated double bonds of the elastomeric rubber polymer graft core with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst comprising salts and complex compounds of rhodium and/or ruthenium whereby the aqueous rubber polymer dispersion contains upto 20 vol. % of an organic solvent. Graft rubbers (I) comprising a graft core and a graft sheath are prepared by: (A) preparation of an aqueous dispersion of at least one elastomeric rubber polymer prepared from at least one conjugated diene, optionally at least one copolymerizable monomer, optionally at least one modifying monomer; (B) followed by selective hydrogenation of ethylenically unsaturated double bonds of the elastomeric rubber polymer with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst comprising salts and complex compounds of rhodium and/or ruthenium whereby the aqueous dispersion of the rubber polymer contains upto 20 vol. % of an organic solvent to prepare the graft core; and (C) grafting at least one graft shell onto the graft core prepared from at least one styrene compound of formula (1), optionally at least one monoethylenically unsaturated nitrile compound and optionally at least further monomer. R , R = H or 1-8C alkyl; n = 0-3 Independent claims are included for: (i) mixtures containing 2-70 wt.% graft rubber (I), 30-98 wt.% of at least one thermoplastic polymer and 0-50 wt.% other additives; and (ii) a process for the production of mixtures by melting the components at 100-350 degrees C.
