Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer carrier which is excellent in the reproducibility and the uniformity of a halftone image, whose resin layer is excellent in mechan ical and electrical durability in the case of long-term use and which can provide a stable-quality image, and to provide an image forming device to which the developer carrier is attached. SOLUTION: As for this developer carrier which is provided with a conductive elastic layer and forms a visible image by supplying developer to the surface of an image forming body while coming into contact with or coming closer to the image forming body in a state where it carries the developer on its surface and forms a developer thin film, the conductive elastic layer is formed on the outer periphery of a good conductive shaft and the resin layer whose volume resistance is 101 to 106 Ωcm is formed in >=100 μm thickness on the surface of the elastic layer. Then, the image forming device to which the developer carrier is attached is provided.

SOLUTION: The coupling agents of a silane system, titanate system, aluminum system, zirconium system, zirconiumaluminate system, etc., are used as the dispersion assistants at the time of uniformly dispersing the silicone resins, such as silicone oil, silicone resins, silicone rubber and their denatured substances, into the polyimide resins, acryl urethane resins, alkyd resins, phenolic resins, melamine resins or their mixtures. The amt. of the coupling agents to be added is specified 0.5 to 3 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. total resin weight. As a result, the compatibility of the resins mixtures with each other is increased and the uniform resin mixtures may be obtd.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a toner carrier capable of forming a high-quality image where a black horizontal line or a white horizontal line is not caused, that is, which has no irregularity by incorporating a crosslinked resin on the surface of a conductive elastic layer and forming a surface layer whose solvent insolubility rate to a specified resin component is equal to or above a specified value. SOLUTION: As for this toner carrier 1, the surface layer 4 principally incorporating a crosslinked resin is provided on the surface of the conductive elastic layer 3 in order to control electrifying property and adhesive property for toner or in order to prevent the decrease of frictional force between a photoreceptor and a laminated blade and the soiling of the photoreceptor by an elastic body. The solvent insolubility rate of the resin component of the surface layer 4, which is expressed by solvent insolubility rate (%)=(B/A)×100, in >=70%, provided that A shows the weight of the resin component in the surface layer 4 before it is immersed in the solvent and B shows the weight of the resin component in the surface layer 4 after it is immersed in good solvent for 24 hours at 25 deg.C to the resin component before cross-linking treatment.
