Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the selective catalytic hydrogenation of the carbonyl group of aromatic aldehydes of the formula in which X can be a carboxyl group, a methyl group or halogen, to give the corresponding alcohols and methyl compounds. The catalytic hydrogenation is carried out with the addition of a solvent, if appropriate in the presence of organic acids, on a shaped supported catalyst containing a metal from the platinum group on a titanium oxide support in the presence of hydrogen at partial pressure of hydrogen of 5 to 50 bar and temperatures of from 100 to 300@C.

Abstract: Procedimiento para la oxidación de un alcohol primario o secundario que comprende unos alcoholes alifáticos, cicloalifáticos y aromáticos, para dar un aldehído o una cetona como un producto de reacción cristalino, que comprende las siguientes etapas: a) poner a disposición una composición de catalizador que comprende por lo menos un compuesto que contiene el radical nitroxilo, por lo menos una fuente de NO, por lo menos un ácido carboxílico o inorgánico o un anhídrido de un ácido carboxílico o inorgánico, b) preparar una mezcla de reacción por adición de por lo menos un alcohol primario o secundario y de un gas que comprende oxígeno, así como opcionalmente de un disolvente o de más que un disolvente, a la composición de catalizador procedente de la etapa a) o respectivamente de la etapa e) c) incubar la mezcla de reacción procedente de la etapa b) a una temperatura que está comprendida entre 0 y 100 ºC o está situada junto al punto de ebullición del disolvente, d) al mismo tiempo que, o a continuación de, la etapa c), cristalizar el producto de reacción, y e) recuperar la composición de catalizador por eliminación del producto de reacción cristalizado a partir de la mezcla de reacción que se ha obtenido en la etapa d).

Abstract: The invention relates to a high performance catalyst containing a layer on an inert carrier body comprising noble metals from the platinum group deposited on support materials. The supprot is promoted by sulfur-containing compounds which come from at least one of following compounds: platinum sulfite (PtSO3), sulfuric acid (H2SO4), ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4), titanium oxysulfate (TiOSO4), titanium sulfate (Ti2(SO4)3), and zirconium sulfate (Zr(SO4)2).
