Abstract: The appts. inspects a number of containers (4) on a linear conveyor (1), for the presence of impurities. The appts. includes a conveyor for the containers and at least one sample taking member which takes a sample from each container. In the inspection area, a linear conveyor path is provided to continually convey the containers. A wheel or disk type sampling member (5) is provided above the conveyor and parallel to the conveyor path. The sample taking member is driven to rotate about and axis (20) perpendicular to the conveyor path. The sample taking member preferably has several projections around its circumference. These fit the containers preferably without touching them. The projections may extend radially towards the centre of the sample taking member. Their motion may be triggered by sensors e.g. cover sensors and/or fluid sensors.

Abstract: Two sheets (10, 14) are removed simultaneously from the pile (1) of sheets. While one sheet (10) is in the feed position, from which it is transferred to the conveyor track by two withdrawal rollers (7, 8), a first suction element (20) grasps the next sheet (14) in the pile (1). This sheet is moved along the curve a into the now free feed position. The second suction element (30), which is no longer required at this point to hold the first sheet (10), moves to the pile (1) so as to grasp the next sheet (15) and transfer it into the feed position while the first suction element is being moved back to the pile. In this way, sheets can be removed from a pile at a more rapid pace than hitherto.

Abstract: To detect contamination of returning reusable PET bottles, the latter are initially fed to a first test station (1) which removes a gas sample from each of the bottles. During this, the first test station (1) tests for the presence of heavy soiling. Such bottles are marked as being soiled. The bottles are fed to a second test station (2) which also removes a gas sample from the unmarked bottles and tests said gas sample with a lower detection threshold for contaminants. Bottles recognised as contaminated here, as well as the marked bottles, are separated out. The two-stage process permits measurement with high sensitivity but still with high bottle throughput.

Abstract: The bottle tester has a stationary and a movable distributor head (17), and conduits (20), leading from the movable part to extractor elements, which dip into the bottles. An adaptor part (24) may be used with the tester instead of the stationary distributor head. The adaptor has a connection (27) for supply of eg. a gas, and a semi-circular channel (25) in contact with the connection. When the adaptor is in place, the channel is in connection with some of the conduits via the movable distributor head. The adaptor presses the fluid through the tester, and leaky areas are indicated by fluid leakages.

Abstract: Two stacking tables (1, 2) are provided and these are followed by two can-body forming stations (5, 6) which, from the sheets stacked on the stacking table, form cylindrical can bodies. These can bodies are then delivered along the feed axis (50) to the welding station, which welds the longitudinal seam of the can. By virtue of the fact that two stacking tables and two can-body forming stations are provided, these elements can operate at half the rate of the welding station. This allows welding to be carried out at a high rate while maintaining reliable feeding of the can bodies.
