Abstract: During manufacture of certain hollow profiles suitable for use in car body construction the welded profiles are subjected to a further deformation process, namely hydroforming. At present the corresponding welding machines are charged manually. The invention relates to a method and a device for transferring hollow-profile blanks, characterized in that during transfer the positioned fusion faces of the blanks are pressed against each other at least in the area of the weld.

Abstract: Two stacking tables (1, 2) are provided and these are followed by two can-body forming stations (5, 6) which, from the sheets stacked on the stacking table, form cylindrical can bodies. These can bodies are then delivered along the feed axis (50) to the welding station, which welds the longitudinal seam of the can. By virtue of the fact that two stacking tables and two can-body forming stations are provided, these elements can operate at half the rate of the welding station. This allows welding to be carried out at a high rate while maintaining reliable feeding of the can bodies.

Abstract: For the testing of bottles (3, 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d), in particular by mass spectrometry, gas samples are taken from a plurality of bottles (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d) simultaneously by means of probes (4, 5, 6, 7). The gas samples are transmitted successively in a predetermined sequence to a mass spectrometer (1) by means of a manifold device (16, 17, 18, 19). In this manner, one mass spectrometer is sufficient for testing a plurality of bottles, this reducing the expense, maintenance outlay and calibration outlay considerably.

Abstract: According to the method according to the invention, the optical inspection of a transparent article (3), in particular the optical inspection of a concave container bottom, the article (3) being positioned between a radiation source (1) and an image-acquisition device (2) and an image of the article being acquired and processed, is improved in that at least one optical correction element (7.1) is interposed in the beam path between the radiation source (1) and the image-acquisition device (2), which correction element corrects the beam paths which lead to undesired dark or black points on the image such that such dark or black points are prevented or brightened, so that an image which is satisfactory for image analysis is produced.
