Abstract: The device comprises a handling arm (21) arranged inside the water box of the steam generator and permitting the assembly for fitting and withdrawing a plug (22) to be placed in the alignment of the tubes of the steam generator bundle. The device additionally comprises an endless screw (35) for moving the tubes in the axial direction, which is fastened to the handling arm (21), a support (44) fastened to the endless screw (35), movable in the axial direction, a linking member (51) carried by the support (44) for removable fastening to the plug body, and a sliding rod (55) actuated by a jack integral with the support (44). The rod (55) actuated by the jack permits, a thrust to be exerted on the plug held by the connecting member (51), in order to produce its extension and facilitate its withdrawal.

Abstract: A sleeve (8) is introduced inside the tube (3) from the face (1a) of the tube plate, with which the tube (3) is flush, through the entire length of the tube plate (1). The tube (3) and the sleeve (8) are joined together in two zones (15, 16) by means of a binder which ensures a bond of high mechanical strength. An axial pull is exerted on the sleeve (8) from the face (1a) of the tube plate (1). The device is capable of pulling on the sleeve which operates either continuously or in steps.

Abstract: The structure (1) of sleeves and plates which encloses the core of a pressurised water-cooled nuclear reactor is dismantled by cutting while immersed in the pond (9) adjoining the reactor vessel (8). The less radioactive sections are placed in containers (27) of the type used to carry reactor guide tubes when these are replaced, and the more radioactive sections are placed in containers (28) of the type used to carry fuel assemblies. Containers (27,28) are removed from the pool separately. Also claimed is the cutting equipment used in the pool.

The internals are cut up into at least 2 separate sections (5a,5b,5c) inside the sealed body (18), with each of the sections (5a,5b,5c) held inside one part (15,17a,17b) making up the body (18). The sections (5a,5b,5c) and their surrounding body parts (15,17a,17b) are then introduced into transport containers which can then be removed from the reactor containment.
