Abstract: An end portion of each of two parts (10, 11) is machined and the machined end portions of the parts (10, 11) are arranged in facing positions to form a welding bevel (13) extending in a longitudinal direction between the parts (10, 11), whereafter a filler metal is deposited into the welding bevel (13). The welding bevel is a narrow bevel with side walls at an aperture angle of no more than 5 DEG relative to the longitudinal central plane of the bevel (13). A nickel alloy comprising 18-32 % of chromium is deposited into the welding bevel. The method is particularly suitable for joining a pressurised water nuclear reactor vessel tubing and an austenitic stainless steel primary circuit pipe.

Abstract: For the purpose of compressing by hammering a steam generator tube, there is directed a stream of gas at high velocity charged with particles having a particle size of between 50 and 500.10-6 m, onto the inner surface of the tube. The jet of gas is directed onto the inner surface of the tube in radial directions and onto the whole of the periphery of the tube. The flow of the mass of the particles is higher than 0.008 kg/sec for tubes having an inside diameter of around 0.020 m. The device comprises a flexible sheath movable inside a case fixed in a sealed manner under the tube plate around the tube. An injection nozzle is disposed at the end of the sheath receiving the gas charged with particles.

The electric welding current and voltage and the feed rate of the wire (14) are predetermined in accordance with the width of the bevel (6).

On ferme de manière étanche une extrémité (8a) des tubes saillante par rapport à la surface convexe de la paroi (2) et on rapporte et on fixe de manière étanche, une paroi (18) portant un canon à électrons (19) sur la paroi bombée (2), de manière à délimiter une chambre étanche (24). On établit une pression réduite à l'intérieur de la chambre étanche (24) et on dirige le tir (19a) du canon à électrons (19) suivant une génératrice de la zone de jonction d'un tube de traversée (8) avec une ouverture de traversée de la paroi bombée (2). On balaye la zone de jonction par un faisceau d'électrons en déplaçant le canon à électrons (19) en rotation autour de l'axe du tube de traversée (8). L'invention est applicable en particulier au soudage des adaptateurs de traversée (8) d'un couvercle de cuve (2) d'un réacteur nucléaire à eau sous pression. Figure 2.
