Abstract: A data hiding method for hiding message data in media data and a data extracting method for extracting message data hidden in the media data. In the data hiding method, the message data are dispersedly hidden in the media data so that no third person can alter the message data. Specifically, the array elements of a message array are dispersedly hidden in a media array based on a status value S designating a specific array element in the media array when the media data and message data are expressed as the media array and the message array, respectively. The hiding method includes (a) a step of determining the j-th (j0) status value Sj, (b) a step of determining the (j+1)th status value Sj+1 based on the value Sj, the array element of the media array designated by the value Sj and the above-mentioned array element of the message array, and (c) a step of hiding data to be hidden in the array element of the media array designated by the value Sj+1.

Abstract: Aufgabe Bereitstellen eines Verfahrens zum Erhöhen der Geschwindigkeit des parallelen Ausführens von Logikprozessen ohne Verringerung der Genauigkeit bei der Datenaktualisierungszeitgebung in einem System zur parallelen diskreten Simulation. Lösung Ein Logikprozess mit einer längeren Verzögerung der Empfangszeit als die der Sendezeit wird um eine Menge an anfänglicher Verschiebung während eines vorab festgelegten Zeitraums vor Start der gesamten Simulation ausgeführt. Es wird bevorzugt, die anfängliche Verschiebung auf die Hälfte eines Wertes einer Differenz zwischen der Empfangszeitverzögerung und der Sendezeitverzögerung einzustellen. Der Logikprozess, der ausgeführt wird, indem die Zeitgebung um die Menge der anfänglichen Verschiebung für den vorab festgelegten Zeitraum verlagert wird, wird ausgeführt, indem Null-Mitteilungen miteinander ausgetauscht werden. Jede Null-Mitteilung wird an einen entsprechenden Logikprozess nach der vorab festgelegten Zeitverzögerung übergeben, und jeder Logikprozess sendet des Weiteren dem entsprechenden Logikprozess eine Null-Mitteilung bei Erhalt der Null-Mitteilung. Dementsprechend besteht eine Progression der Simulation, indem sie über die Null-Mitteilungen synchronisiert werden.

Abstract: The digital contents distribution system of the present invention distributes digital contents through first and second networks 12 and 22. A server 14 is connected to the first network 12, and clients 20 for receiving and displaying or reproducing the digital contents are connected to the second network 22. The server 14 divides digital contents held therein into a plurality of packets, and transmits packets of a minimum unit for constructing the digital contents to the second network 22. The clients 20 include means for holding the digital contents therein by use of the packets of the minimum unit received from the server 14 and packets received from other clients constructing the second network.

Abstract: To provide an electronic watermark method and system for which the detection reliability of embedded information does not depend on the strength of signals that are measured in frames. To achieve the above object, information is prepared for embedding as a bit stream, the sign of the bit stream being changed in accordance with a sign inversion cycle, and the bit stream being embedded in a frame. As for detection of information, values obtained through observation of frames are accumulated, and the accumulated values are compared with threshold values that are varied in accordance with the accumulated values obtained by observation. The comparison results are then employed to detect the embedded information.

Abstract: It is one object of the present invention to provide a method and system for embedding an electronic watermark directly in an MPEG stream. ÄConstitutionÜ An intra-macroblock of an I-frame or of a P or B-frame is detected in an MPEG stream, and following the detection of an intra-macroblock of the I-frame or of the P or B-frame, data for one macroblock are extracted from the MPEG stream and buffered. An embedding pattern is embedded in the buffered macroblock without changing the length of VLC, and the resultant macroblock is returned to the MPEG stream. More specifically, a DC factor is extracted from the buffered macroblock, and a pseudorandom number is generated to produce an embedding pattern. Then, whether the bit length of the DC factor will not be changed by embedding the obtained embedded pattern is determined. When the bit length of the DC factor not be changed, the embedding pattern is embedded in the buffered macroblock. When the bit length will be changed, whether 1/2 of the embedding pattern can be embedded is determined. If possible, 1/2 of the embedded pattern is embedded in the macroblock.

Abstract: Additional information (eg copyright information) is embedded into audio data such that the sonic modification caused by the embedding is not perceptible to humans, whilst the additional information can be precisely recovered after audio processing. For embedding the audio data is transformed into frequency components 120 , and for each frequency component the modification level of the audio data into which the additional information 180 can be embedded is determined 130 . A mask is generated 160/170 and used for embedding the additional information in the determined modification level 140 . The modified frequency components of the audio data are then converted back into audio data using an inverse transformation 190 . In a detector (Fig. 2) the audio data is transformed into frequency components 220 and the start point of the additional information is determined 250 . A detection mask is thence produced 270/280 and used to detect the additional information 260 from the determined start point in the transformed audio data.
