Abstract:
A wireless communication method and apparatus for optimizing the performance of an access point (AP) for reliably communicating with at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, the coverage area of an AP is autonomously determined. In another embodiment the loads of an AP are balanced. In yet another embodiment, the transmission power level of an AP is determined and/or controlled.
Abstract:
A radio resource control unit which monitors air interface resources, includes an air interface measurement unit for obtaining air interface measurements; a storage unit which stores air interface measurements and a corresponding timestamp; and a processing unit, for processing the air interface measurements. At least a portion of the interface measurements may be predicted values.
Abstract:
A communication system transmits and receives communications (Fig. 3) within a sectorized cell between at least one primary station (PS) and at least one secondary station. The communication system includes a unit for generating and shaping a beam (B); an antenna for transmitting and receiving signals within said beam (B); and a unit for directing the beam. The shaped beam is directed at a plurality of predetermined directions; either continuously or discretely.
Abstract:
A method for communicating a list of handover candidates in a wireless local area network from a station to a serving access point (AP) begins by determining a list of handover candidate APs at the station. The candidate list is sorted at the station and is sent to the serving AP. The sending step can include sending the candidate list to the serving AP upon the expiration of a predetermined period of time or upon receipt at the station of an event trigger. The method can also include the step of requesting a candidate list from the station by the serving AP.
Abstract:
A method, access point (AP) and a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in wireless communications are disclosed. Means are provided for a first communication station providing a load element for each of a plurality of access categories, and advertising the plurality of load elements to other communication stations.
Abstract:
A method (5) and system wherein the coverage area of a plurality of base stations may be evaluated with respect to noise rise and power for assignment of system resources is disclosed (step 406). Path loss is measured to determine candidate base stations (step 402) and at least one timeslot is selected from within the candidate base stations for optimization of the uplink and downlink (408).
Abstract:
A method and system for improving interoperability of a radio network controller and a base station in a cellular system with downlink congestion control is disclosed. A message is sent from a base station to a radio network controller after the base station has discarded at least one transport block 14. the message sent to the radio network controller may be forwarded by the radio network controller to additional radio network controllers serving users affected by the discard of the at least one transport block.
