Abstract: The present invention provides a method of minimizing synchronization delay in a radiotelephone system between a modular subscriber cluster communicating with a common base station, the modular subscriber cluster receiving repetitive time slots from the base station and having a plurality of frequency-agile modems, the method comprising the steps of: synchronizing a selected one of the modems to a selected time slot of the received time slots; generating a frame sync signal from said selected modem; and distributing said frame sync signal to remaining ones of the plurality of modems.

Abstract: A power-conserving time division multiple access (TDMA) radiotelephone syste m is disclosed in which a cluster of subscriber stations , remote from a base station, employs a common pool of frequency-agile modems each of which digitally synthesizes, on a time slot-by-t ime slot basis, the different channel-identifying intermediate needed to support communications between several of the subscriber stations and the base station. Power conservation is facilitated inter alia by controlling the assignment of modems to calls, mainta ining unassigned modems in a powered-down state and by controlling the number of c alls using the same time slot. Delay in assigning a powered-down modem to a call is eliminated by making available to all modems the highest quality synchronization information obtaine d by any of the active modems.

Abstract: A communication system where the data rate of a given transmission has been encoded by a transmitter and is then used to adjust a plurality of convolutional decoders sharing common memory. The system uses common processing resources to provide up to four discrete channels having multi-rate convolutional error correction decoding resulting in a reduced silicon area and low power operation. The system is capable of supporting data communication at 8 kbps up to 64 kbps for high rate ISDN communication in receivers of both base station and consumer unit locations.

Abstract: Método para reducir errores de transmisión por una estación base CDMA cuando transmite una señal de comunicación a una segunda unidad de comunicación, que incluye las etapas de: recibir una señal de comunicación RF originada de dicha segunda unidad de comunicación a dicha estación base; analizar los errores de dicha señal recibida; generar una señal de corrección basada en dicho análisis; y corregir dicha señal de comunicación usando dicha señal de corrección antes de la transmisión de dicha señal de comunicación desde dicha estación base a dicha segunda unidad de comunicación; filtrar dicha señal recibida para generar una señal filtrada usando una señal de ponderación; desmodular dicha señal recibida para generar valores de vía relativos para cada componente multivía en dicha señal recibida; y mezclar dichos valores de vía con dicha señal de corrección para generar dicha señal de ponderación; caracterizado por el hecho de que dicha fase de análisis incluye: despropagar dicha señal filtrada usando una señal piloto; llevar a cabo una decisión por hardware en dicha señal filtrada despropagada para generar salidas de símbolo; y determinar los conjugados complejos de dichas salidas de símbolo para generar dicha señal de corrección; donde dicha señal de corrección elimina los errores de fase relativos contenidos en los valores de vía.
