    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simpler method for manufacturing regenerated molding sand by which the removal ratio of impurities is made high and a casting quantity and a mold strength can be improved. SOLUTION: To 100 weight parts of recovered sand, after applying a grinding treatment by adding 0.5-20 weight parts of water, the recovered molding sand is manufactured by performing a dry-type grinding treatment. As molding sand, artificial ceramic sand is used and the water-additional grinding treatment is performed with a vertical shaft rotation type grinding apparatus. The vertical shaft rotation type grinding apparatus is provided with: a rotating drum provided with an opening hole for receiving recovery sand; an annular body which is arranged at the upper peripheral edge of the above rotating drum and receives the recovery sand spattered with a centrifugal force from this rotating drum; and a means for adding the water to the recovered sand received in the rotating drum.
