Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pearl-like gloss providing agent that can provide fine pearl-like gloss to a detergent composition or the like, uniformly and in a short time, and a composition with pearl-like gloss containing the agent, the composition showing fine pearl-like gloss. SOLUTION: This pearl-like gloss providing agent is composed of an amide- ester represented by general formula (1) (wherein R CO- and R CO- are, each the same or different, a 16-24C saturated or unsaturated acyl group that may have a hydroxy group; R is a 1-3C straight-chain or branched alkyl group; and R is a 1-6C straight-chain or branched alkylene group, or a 2-6C straight- chain or branched alkenylene group). A composition with pearl-like gloss is formed by comprising the pearl-like gloss providing agent.

The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reacting ammonia with an aldehyde of the formula R1 -CHO with prussic acid, hydrolyzing the reaction product to give a compound of formula III and treating the compound with a monohaloacetic acid so as to introduce R and R to the compound. The objective composition comprises preferably 5-40wt.% of a surfactant and 20-70wt.% of a detergent builder. An alkyl sulfate is preferable as the surfactant.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound exhibiting surface activating action, bacteriostatic action, etc., end having low content of by-products especially a long-chain fatty acid or its salt, a nitrile, etc., high purity and low stimulation. SOLUTION: This N-long chain acylamino acid is expressed by formula I (R CO is an 8-22C saturated or unsaturated fatty acid residue; R is H or a 1-3C alkyl; R is a 1-5C alkylene; X is a halogen), e.g. N-lauroyl-β-alanine. The compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by reacting a fatty acid halide of formula II such as lauric acid with an amino acid of formula III such as β-alanine in the presence of a basic substance such as NaOH or by hydrolyzing an amidonitrile in the presence of a basic substance such as KOH at 60-110 deg.C. The reaction product is incorporated with an inorganic acid such as hydrochloric acid to lower the neutralization degree to
