    Abstract: A dispersant viscosity improver (I) for lubricating oil compsns. is the reaction prod. of: (a) an ethylene copolymer (D) of number average mol. wt. 30,000-300,000, grafted with an ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic acid or functional deriv. thereof (E), where (D) is an oil-soluble ethylene-alpha -olefin copolymer (D1), or an ethylene-lower olefin-diene copolymer (D2); and (b) polyester(s) contg. condensible hydroxyl gp(s). (B1), and polyamine(s) having condensible prim. or sec. amino gp(s). (B2). Also claimed are: (i) an oil-soluble or dispersible compsn. (II) comprising the reaction prods. of: (a) an oil-soluble copolymer of ethylene with at least one comonomer, at least one of which is a 3-28 C alpha -olefin, the copolymer being of number average mol. wt. and grafted as (a) above; (b1) a polyisobutenyl substd. succinic polyester contg. an average of at least one free hydroxyl gp. per mole, and (b2) an alkylene polyamine of formula H2N-(alkylene-NR)n-H, where R = H, 1-30 C hydrocarbyl or -[alkylene-N(R)]x-H, where n = 1-10, x = 0-5, and alkylene is 2-10 C; and (ii) lubricant compsns. and concentrates contg. (I) or (II).

    Abstract: A composition of matter suitable for use as a dispersant-viscosity improver for lubricating oil compositions comprises the reaction product of reactants comprising (a) an oil soluble, substantially hydrogenated, vinyl substituted aromatic-aliphatic conjugated diene block copolymer said copolymer having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 30,000 to about 300,000, grafted with an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or functional derivative thereof; (b-1) at least one polyester containing at least one condensable hydroxyl group; and (b-2) at least one polyamine having at least one condensable primary or secondary amino group, and optionally, (c) at least one hydrocarbyl substituted carboxylic acid or anhydride.
