Abstract:
This invention relates to a composition comprising: (A) a major amount of a fluorine-containing hydrocarbon containing one or two carbon atoms; and (B) a minor amount of a soluble tertiary amide represented by the formula wherein a is one or two, provided that when a is one, R is a hydrocarbyl group or a hydrocarbylpolyoxyalkylene group, and when a is two, R is a hydrocarbylene group; each R2 is independently hydrogen or an alkyl group having from 1 to about 8 carbon atoms; b is one or two; X is oxygen or N-R3; R3 is a hydrocarbyl group having 1 to about 18 carbon atoms or -C(O)R4, R4 is a hydrocarbyl group or a hydrocarbylpolyoxyalkylene alkyl group. The present invention provides compositions which are useful as refrigeration liquids in refrigerators and air-conditioners including auto, home and industrial air-conditioners. The invention provides tertiary amides which are compatible with fluorine-containing hydrocarbons used in refrigerators and air conditioners. The tertiary amides act as a lubricant for air-conditioners.

Liquid compositions also are described wherein the fluorine-containing hydrocarbons also contain other halogens such as chlorine. Methods of lubricating refrigeration systems are also described. The liquid compositions are useful particularly as refrigeration liquids in refrigerators and air-conditioners including automotive, home, commercial and industrial air-conditioners.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition usable for a diesel fuel of a diesel engine having a particulate trap in an exhaust system, and capable of reducing he ignition temperature of the exhaust particles trapped. SOLUTION: This composition of (A) an organometallic complex and (B) an antioxidant can be useful in the diesel fuel for operating the diesel engine having the particulate trap in the exhaust system. The composition of the components (A) and the component (B) is useful for reducing the ignition temperature of the exhaust particles collected by the trap. The organometallic complex (A) can be dissolved in or stably dispersed in the diesel fuel, and can be derived from (i) an organic compound containing at least two functional groups connected to a hydrocarbon bond, and (ii) a metallic reactive agent capable of forming the complex with the organic compound (i).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid composition being excellent in compatibility between the constituents in a low to high temperature region and useful as a coolant for a cooling apparatus by mixing a fluorohydrocarbon with an organic lubricant comprising a carboxylic acid ester of a polyhydric hydroxyl compound. SOLUTION: This composition comprises at least one fluorohydrocarbon (A) containing one or two carbon atoms and containing only fluorine as the halogen and at least one soluble organic lubricant (B) containing at least one ester made from a polyhydric hydroxyl compound and a carboxylic acid and is represented by the formula: R[OC(O)R ]n (wherein R is a hydrocarbyl, each R is hydrogen, a linear lower hydrocarbyl, a branched hydrocarbyl, an 8-22C linear hydrocarbyl or the like; and n is at least 2). Usually, component A is used in an amount of about 50 to 99wt.% based on the composition.
