Abstract: An offset amount measuring apparatus for measuring an offset amount resulting from an offset produced when a disk, which is provided with a plurality of clock mark signals recorded round each circular data track at physically regular intervals, is mounted by chucking on a disk apparatus, reading the clock mark signals from the circular data track with a head, is disclosed. The apparatus comprises time interval measurement means for measuring the time interval between clock mark reproduced signals output from the head while the head is positioned at a distance of a predetermined radius from the center of rotation of the disk, offset amount calculation means for obtaining the distance between a locus of the head traced on the disk when the same is rotated and the circular data track from the time interval between the clock mark reproduced signals measured by the time interval measurement means, and offset amount storage means for storing the distance obtained by the offset amount calculation means as the offset amount in relation to the angle of rotation of the disk. By the use of this apparatus, it is made possible to measure the offset amount electrically, not using a mechanical measuring instrument, and precisely, not decreasing the disk capacity.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a disc recording medium (1), a recording apparatus and a playback apparatus, more concretely, the present invention provides a disc recording medium (1) wherein a circular track is created in advance to be used for recording data as a groove (GV) or a land (L), said track is wobbled to contain approximately fixed number of wobbling periods as counted in a longitudinal direction of said track, and said track includes rotational-angle marks each showing a predetermined rotational angular position on said disc recording medium. As a result, the precision and the reliability of recording can be attained.

Abstract: Clock marks for extracting clock components are made in advance at regular intervals along the track of a discoid recording medium, and clock components are extracted by detecting these clock marks at the time of rotating the discoid recording medium. Since the clock components are extracted from the definitely and periodically arranged clock marks in such a way, and interpolating clocks in sections between clock marks are generated based on the extracted clock components, highly accurate clocks can be obtained as compared with the case where clocks are extracted from reproduced codes. Therefore, the capacity of the discoid recording medium can be remarkably increased.

Abstract: In a load/unload apparatus for loading/unloading a head slider, an actuator (3) is driven by pulses from a driving circuit (11), and when the pulse is OFF a counterelectromotive force is detected in a voice coil motor and is fed back to the driving circuit, so that the driving circuit (11) controls the position and the speed of the actuator. Accordingly, the load/unload speed can be controlled to a desired value, and collision between a head and a disk can be minimized.

Abstract: A magnetic or optical disc device which can correctly follow up the eccentricity of an eccentrically chucked disk and which can immediately follow up the eccentricity of the new disk face when there is a changeover of the disc face being accessed has: a disc, having data tracks provided with uniformly spaced clock marks for providing a timing standard; reproduction means, for reproducing data from the disc; clock sampling means, for extracting a first clock signal outputted by the reproduction means; eccentricity magnitude memory means, for storing a signal corresponding to the eccentricity of the data tracks with respect to the axis of rotation of the disc; clock correction means, including voltage control oscillator means, for, according to the signal corresponding to the eccentricity, causing a second clock signal outputted by the voltage control oscillator means to follow the first clock signal by changing the phase of the second clock signal or the frequency of the second clock signal; and eccentricity magnitude measuring means, for measuring the signal corresponding to the eccentricity from the first clock signal and the output signal of the reproduction means and supplying it to the eccentricity magnitude memory means. The eccentricity magnitude measuring means measures the signal corresponding to the eccentricity by some method such as calculating the number of tracks which the reproduction head crosses or using the non-uniformity of spacing observed in a string of clock pulses reproduced from the uniformly spaced clock marks in the disc.
