Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystalline resin composition excellent in both flame retardancy and thin-wall flowability useful as intended for electrical/ electronic parts or the like, surface appearance, low warpage and low-gas content. SOLUTION: This liquid crystalline resin composition is obtained by incorporating (A) 100 pts.wt. of a liquid crystalline resin with (B) 5-200 pts.wt. of glass fiber having a fiber diameter of 3-20 μm, weight-average fiber length of 0.15-0.35 mm, the ratio of weight-average fiber length to number-average fiber length (Lw/Ln) of >=1.5, and the glass fiber 0.2 mm in fiber length accounting for 10-60 wt.% of the total glass fiber, and (C) 0.01-30 pts.wt. of red phosphorus.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyamide resin compsn. having such additional characteristics as strength under high humidity and good external surface appear ance, by adding to a polyamide resin a liquid crystalline resin having a carboxylic end group conc. of more than a specified quantity. SOLUTION: As the polyamide resin, nylon 6, 66, 610, 66/6T, 6T/6I, 6I/M5T, etc., are good examples. The polyamide resin has an amino end group conc. of pref. from 30×10 equivalent/g to 1,000×10 equivalent/g of the upper limit. The liquid crystalline resin is such a resin capable of forming an anisotropic melt phase as a liquid crystalline polyester, a liquid crystalline polyesteramide, etc., comprising a structural unit of an aromatic oxycarbonyl unit, an aromatic dioxy unit, ethylenedioxy unit and so on and also as having a carboxylic end group concn. of 75×10 equivalent/g or more. The liquid crystalline resin used is added in an amt. of 0.01-10 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. of the polyamide resin. A blended is carried out by melt kneading.

CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pts.wt. of a liquid crystalline resin composed of a liquid crystalline polyester and/or a liquid crystalline polyamide showing an anisotropic melt phase is mixed with (B) 0.01-2 pts.wt. of an olefinic polymer having 10,000-600,000 weight-average molecular weight (polyethylene, polypropylene, a copolymer of ethylene and a >=3C a alpha-olefin, a copolymer of propylene and a >=4C alpha-olefin, a copolymer of ethylene, a >=3C alpha-olefin and a nonconjugated diene and/or a copolymer of propylene, a >=4C a alpha olefin and a nonconjugated diene) and melted and molded at the melting point of the component A+10 deg.C (90 deg.C mold temperature) to give a molding having 6.0mm width X127mm length X1mm thickness and >=15% weld strength retention ratio.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a liq. crystal polyester resin compsn. with small mechanical anisotropy by compounding a liq. crystal polyester resin forming a specified anisotropic molten phase with a specified silane-contg. compd. CONSTITUTION:A liq. crystal polyester resin compsn. prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. liq. crystal polyester resin (A) which consists of the repeating units of formulas I, II and IV or I, II, III and IV and forms an anisotropic molten phase, 0-200 pts.wt. filler (B) and 0.01-20 pts.wt. silane-contg. compd. of formula V. In the formulas, R1 is a group of formula VI, etc., and R2 is a group of formula VII, etc. In addition, the structural unit of formula IV is equimolar with the structural unit of formulas (II+III). Examples of the filler induce glass fibers, ceramic fibers, metal fibers, carbon fiber, clay and titanium oxide. As the compsn. exhibits small mechanical anisotropy, it can be used for various purposes where dimensional accuracy is required, such as electric and electronic parts.

PREPARATION:A carboxylic acid shown by formula VII is reacted with a sodium alcoholate shown by formula R1OH to form a compound shown by formula VIII, which is reacted with SOCl2 to give a compound shown by formu la IX. On the other hand a compound shown by formula X is reacted with a compound shown by formula XI to form a compound shown by formula XII, which is reacted with the compound shown by formula IX to give a com pound shown by formula I.

PREPARATION:A commercially available 4-acetoxybenzoic acid is made to react with thionyl chloride according to the reaction formula to obtain an acid chloride of formula VIII. The chloride is made to react with a compound of formula IX and the resultant compound of formula X is reacted with benzylamine to obtain a compound of formula XI. The objective compound of formula I is produced by reacting the compound of formula XI with a com pound of formula XIII derived from a compound of formula XIII.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant liquid crystal polyester resin composition capable of forming a molded article having good flame-retardancy even in the form of an extremely thin molding, wherein a residence stability in flow for a molding process is improved and an expansion of a molding due to gases is suppressed to give superior color tons to the molding. SOLUTION: The flame-retardant liquid crystal polyester composition comprises: (A) 100 pts.wt. of a liquid crystal polyester; (B) 5 to 200 pts.wt. of a filler; (C) 0.5 to 100 pts.wt. of a styrene resin; and (D) 0.2 to 5 pts.wt. of a phosphoric acid ester represented by the following formula (1). Furthermore, the weight proportion of the phosphoric acid ester (D) to styrenic resin (C), (D)/(C), is 15/85 to 50/50, and still further, the weight proportion of the sum of the styrenic resin (C) and the phosphoric acid ester (D) to the liquid crystal polyester resin (A) (C)+(D)}/(A) is in the range of 1/99 to 10/90.
