    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation method by which fresh water is obtained in a high yield with less energy, at a lower cost and with high efficiency from seawater or highly concentrated salt solution. SOLUTION: When seawater is treated to separate concentrated water and permeated water by using a reverse osmotic separation apparatus in which reverse osmotic membrane module units are arranged in multistage manner and the total effective membrane area of reverse osmotic membranes of the membrane units of a next step is in a range of 40-60% of the total area of the membranes of the membrane units of the former step which is arranged in front of the membrane units of the next step, the separation apparatus is operated in such a manner that the concentrated water obtained from the former step of the membrane units is, after raising the pressure of the concentrated water, supplied to the next step of the membrane units, and the total quantity of permeated water obtained from the membrane units of each step so as to become more than 50% of quantity of seawater supplied to the membrane units of the first step.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a lightweight interlaced woven fabric having high air permeability and preventing the slippage of the yarns, and further to obtain the Western style outdoor clothing using the same. CONSTITUTION: The interlaced woven fabric has a warp density of 55-115 warps/ inch, a weft density of 25-65 wefts/inch, a METSUKE of 60-170-g/m , an airflow quantity of >=100cc/cm /see, a thickness of 0.2-0.8mm and an opening degree of 6-50%, and contains at least one kind of yarns selected from the following yarn group as an essential constituting component. (1) Spun yarns or spunlike yarns, (2) long and short composite yarns comprising short fibers and filaments, (3) filament yarns having large and small cross sections in the longitudinal direction of the yarns, (4) filament yarns having modified cross sections or containing the modified cross sections, (5) composite yarns composed of two or more kinds of filaments different in the shrinkage degrees, and (6) bulky processed yarns produced by a false-twisting method or an air-interlacing processing method.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a solution of low concentration in high yield, with less energy, more inexpensively, with high efficiency and more stably from a solution of high concentration by arranging a booster pump in a concentrate flow passage between reverse osmosis membrane module units arranged in a multistage manner. CONSTITUTION: A booster pump 7 is arranged in a concentrate flow passage 4 between reverse osmosis membrane module units 2, 8 arranged in a multistage manner. A seawater desalination plant is taken as an example. After seawater gets rid of turbid components, it is pressurized by a pressurizing pump 1 and is fed to the reverse osmosis membrane module unit 2 of the 1st stage, where the fed liquid is separated into a permeated liquid 3 of low concentration and a concentrate 4 of high concentration not passing through the membrane. Next, the permeated liquid 3 is used as it is, but the concentrate 4 is further boosted by a booster pump 7 and is fed to the reverse osmosis membrane module unit 8 of the 2nd stage and is separated into a concentrate 9 of the 2nd stage and a concentrate 10 thereof. In this case, the yield of fresh water is 60%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve discharge capacity of electrodes and at the same time to reduce the initial capacity loss by constituting the electrodes from two kinds or more of carbon fibers having different specific resistances. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds or more of carbon fibers having different specific resistances among PAN carbon fiber, pitch carbon fiber, cellulose carbon fiber, and vapor phase epitaxy carbon fiber are used as carbon fibers for constituting battery electrodes. Mixed discharge capacity and initial loss can be effectively regulated by setting the specific resistance made to differ three times or more. Especially, use of carbon fibers having specific resistance (rho) of 3.5X10 OMEGA.cm OMEGA.cm of 4.0X10 OMEGA.cm OMEGA.cm can enhance discharge capacity and at the same time reduce the initial capacity loss.
