Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus and method for a multistage reverse osmosis separation which comprises reverse osmosis membrane module units (2,8) arranged at multistage with a booster pump (7) provided in the concentrate flow channel (4) between reverse osmosis membrane module units (2,8), wherein the total effective reverse osmosis membrane area of a module unit (8) is in the range of 20-80% of that of the preceding module unit (2). The object of this invention is to provide apparatus and separation method that produce low-concentration solution from high-concentration solution with a high recovery ratio, small energy requirements, and high stability.

Abstract: Un método para recoger agua desalinificada a partir de agua del mar, que comprende: separar agua de mar en un concentrado y en flujo saliente de baja concentración por medio de unidades de módulo de membrana de ósmosis inversa (2, 8) dispuestas en multietapa, donde el concentrado de una etapa es suministrado a la siguiente etapa y los flujos salientes de baja concentración son recogidos desde las etapas, y donde el área total de membrana de ósmosis inversa eficaz de una etapa está en el intervalo de 20 a 80% de la de la etapa precedente, caracterizado por someter a presión el agua de mar introducida como alimentación en la unidad de módulo de membrana de ósmosis inversa de la primera etapa (2) y someter a presión el concentrado entre dos etapas de manera que la diferencia entre la presión de operación en cada etapa es de 5.07 MPa (50 atmósferas) o menos y la velocidad de flujo saliente de cada etapa está en el intervalo de 30 a 70% de la de la etapa precedente.
