    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film suitable as a base film for a video tape not generating the surface shaving of the base film even when repeated running is performed within a VTR, suppressed in drop out, reduced in the generation of a damage and holding running durability equal to that of a back coat layer. CONSTITUTION:In a biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film constituted by laminating a layer (A-layer) consisting of crosslinked polymer particles and a thermoplastic resin A on at least the single surface of a layer (B-layer) composed of a thermoplastic resin B, the intrinsic viscosity of the A-layer is set to 0.75 or more, the ratio t/d of the thickness (t) of the A-layer and the average particle size (d) of the crosslinked polymer particles contained in the thermoplastic resin A is set to 0.1-5 and the content of the particles in the thermoplastic resin A is set to 1-20wt.%.
