    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin composition giving a molding having high weld strength and excellent flow, heat resistance and dimensional stability, by adding a liquid crystal polyester comprising specified structural formulas and having a heat distortion temperature in a specified range to a specified thermoplastic polyester. CONSTITUTION:This polyester resin composition comprises 99-1wt.% thermoplastic polyester (A) comprising terephthalic acid and at least one alkylene glycol selected from among ethylene glycol, butanediol and hexamethylene glycol and 1-99wt.% liquid polyester (B) which forms an anisotropic molten phase of a heat distortion temperature of 190-280 deg.C, comprising structural units of formulas I, II and III (wherein X is a group selected from among those of formulae IV, V, VI, VII and VIII, the carbonyl groups in each of structural units of formulas II and III are para or meta to each other, and the rate of carboxyl groups para to each other is at least 50mol%).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a melt-moldable aromatic polyester excellent in heat resistance and flow, comprising three specified kinds of structural units. CONSTITUTION:This heat-resistant aromatic polyester comprises three kinds of structural units of formulas I, II and III, wherein structural units (I) amount to 55-80mol% based on the total, structural units [II+III] amount to 45-20mol% based on the total and the molar ratio of structural units (II) to structural units (III) is 1-5. In formulas I-III, X is at least one group selected from among groups of formulas IV and V, etc., and Y is at least one group selected from among groups of formulas VI and VII, etc., provided that the case where Y is a group of formula VI when X is at least one group selected from groups of formulas IV and V is excluded. Said polyester can be produced by, for example, subjecting an aromatic dihydroxy compound such as p- hydroxybenzoic acid or t-butylhydroquinone, a dicarboxylic acid such as terephthalic acid and acetic anhydride to a polycondensation reaction by elimination of acetic acid.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. having excellent impact resistance, appearance, etc., by blending a polyethylene terephthalate resin prepd. by using a tin compd. or a Ti compd. as a polymn. reaction catalyst with an olefin copolymer having glycidyl groups. CONSTITUTION:A dicarboxylic acid component mainly composed of terephthalic acid is reacted with a diol component mainly composed of ethylene glycol in the presence of at least one member selected from tin compds. and titanium compds. (e.g., monobutyltin oxide, tetrabutyl titanate) as a polymn. catalyst to produce a thermoplastic polyester. 100pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester is blended with 0.5-80pts.wt. olefin copolymer having glycidyl groups (e.g., an ethylene/ glycidyl methacrylate copolymer) to obtain the desired polyethylene terephthalate molding resin compsn.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A novel copolymer polyester providing a polymer having high polymerization degree only by melt polymerization, having improved molding properties, providing a molded article having high strength and high modulus of elasticity. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer polyester consisting of 20-50mol% carboxylate unit shown by the formula I and 80-50wt% carboxylate unit shown by the formula II. To obtain the copolymer polyester, preferably a polyethylene-1,2- bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate having 0.4-1.20 intrinsic viscosity is reacted with an acyloxy aromatic carboxylic acid and subjected to polycondensation. p-Acyloxybenzoic acid and/or 6-acyloxy-2-naphthoic acid is used as the acyloxy aromatic carboxylic acid.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the elastic modulus and hot-water resistance of a crystalline polyester, without lowering the crystallinity, by adding a specific aromatic ester. CONSTITUTION:100 parts by weight of a linear crystalline polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) is compounded with 0.1-20 parts of an aromatic ester of formula I or II (R is alkyl, alkoxy, ester, etc.) having a characteristics of a liquid crystal with a nematic melting point of >=120 deg.C. For example, the liquid crystal compound is mixed with the polyester by an extruder, a kneader, etc., or is attached to the pellets of the polyester. EFFECT:Useful for manufacturing of film, tape, bottles, and food containers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain linear copolyester with excellent heat resistance by reacting an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component containing oxadiazole group and an aliphatic or alicyclic diol component. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic dicarboxylic acid component containing 1-30mol% of a compound of the formula (R1, R2 are H, 1C-10C alkyl; carboxyl group is positioned at para- or ortho position to oxadiazole group) and an aliphatic and/or an alicyclic diol component are reacted. As an aromatic dicarboxylic acid other than a compound of the formula, telephthalic acid; 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid or alkyl ester thereof are preferably used and, as a diol component, 2C-10C aliphatic and/or alicyclic diol, e.q. ethylene glycol; 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol or the like, is preferably used.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a copolyester having improved transparency, toughness, stiffness, heat resistance and mechanical properties and giving molded articles free from silver streak by copolymerizing 1,2-cyclohexanediol as a diol component. CONSTITUTION:In the production of a copolyester from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and two or more diols, 1,2-cyclohexanediol (a mixture of the cis- and trans- isomers at an arbitrary ratio) is used as a diol component to give a copolymer product containing 1-50mol%, preferably 3-30mol% of 1,2-cyclohexanediol on the basis of the whole diol component. EFFECT:The polymerization characteristics are improved and the glass transition point is raised.
