Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an improver for physical properties of composite materials, etc., by reacting a chloroalkylsliane with ethylenediamine in a molar ratio 1:6 not less than, followed by distilling away a specific amount of excess diamine. CONSTITUTION:A chloroalkylsilane shown by the formula I (R is 1-4C alkyl; R' is 1-6C alkyl or alkoxyalkyl m is 1,2, or 3; a is 0 or 1) is reacred with ethylenediamine (EDA for short) in a molar ratio of not less than 1:6, and after the reaction excess EDA is distilled away out of the reaction system. The reaction solution is separated into two layers in such a way that a molar ratio of an amount of EDA to an amount of the compound shown by the formula I used in the reaction becomes 2.5-5.0. A compound shown by the formula II is obtained in high yield in high purity by separating a layer containing EDA hydrochloride. EFFECT:The formation of a bissilyl derivative is suppressed by making a molar ratio of a chloroalkylsilane to EDA 1: not less than 6.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound smoothly and efficiently useful as a raw material for high polymers and intermediate material for organic synthetis, by hydrolyzing a specific lactam, its oligomer, or its polymer through ring opening in the presence of water and lithium carbonate. CONSTITUTION:A 5-13 membered ring lactam (e.g., alpha-pyrrolidone, etc.), its oligomer, or its polymer through ring opening, is hydrolyzed in the presence of water and lithium carbonate at 60-350 deg.C to give an omega-aminoalkanecarboxylic acid (ACA). An amount of lithium carbonate is preferably at least half the molar quantity of the law material lactam and water in an amount about equimolar with the lactam is required. EFFECT:ACA can be obtained by an extremely simple operation without using a strong acid or strong alkali at all. Since lithium carbonate is used in circulation, no byproduct is prepared.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for preparing an omega-aminoalkanecarboxylic acid, etc. effectively, by hydrolyzing a lactam in the presence of water and a carbonate of Li, Ca, etc. under heating, and discharging CO2 which is emitted. CONSTITUTION:A lactam(5-13 membered ring lactam, its oligomer, or its polymer through ring opening) is hydrolyzed in the presence of water and a carbonate of a metal selected from Li, Ca, and Ba at 60-350 deg.C, and CO2 which is emitted is discharged to give the titled compound. Lithium carbonate is especially preferably as the metallic carbonate. EFFECT:A raw material, a lactam, which is not high quality, can be used, and a recovered lactam in the production of polyamide is sufficient. A metallic carbonate prepared as a byproduct in the production of an omega-aminoalkanecarboxylic acid or amino Schiff base from the titled compound can used in circulation.

With the fine fiber-form or film-form catalyst thus made, the active surfaces of the catalyst particles dispersed in the inside or the catalyst fine particles dispersed in partially exposing their surfaces are connected to the outside of the fine fiber-form material or film-form material by fine cavities and their specific surface area is set at 3m /g or more. The abovementioned catalyst may be sheeted, if desired, alone or with other pulp-form material and may be used as sheet-form material.
