    Abstract: PURPOSE:To uniformly impart high deodorizing capacity to a molded product excellent in mechanical properties, by impregnating a synthetic polymer molded product having predetermined water content with a chemical agent containing an oxycarboxylic acid compound and a ferrous salt. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic polymer molded product containing 1% or more of moisture in a standard state is impregnated with a chemical agent containing an oxycarboxylic acid compound having two or more carboxyl groups in the molecule thereof and a ferrous slat. The synthetic polymer molded product is formed using polyamide, polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylonitrile or polyurethane. As the oxycarboxylic acid compound, tartaric acid, citric acid, malic acid or the like are used.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled material capable of scavenging an iodine compd. which scavenges iodine and methyl iodide at the same time contd. in a gas or a liquor by binding silver to an ion exchange fiber. CONSTITUTION:The ion exchange fiber is introduced a cation exchange group such as sulfonic acid group, etc., and a chelate group such as aminocarboxylic acid group, etc., to a base polymer such as polystyrene, etc. The silver is binded to said ion exchange fiber by treating with an aqueous solution of silver nitrate in >=0.01M an concn. and in an amount of >=0.5 times equivalent per an ion exchange capacity of the ion exchange fiber. The amount of silver contd. in the on exchange fiber is >=0.1meq/g on the dry weight based on the on exchange fiber. The form of said fiber is preferably a staple having about 0.1-3mm length in the case of scavenging iodine. The sheet like material made by using the staple is preferable in the case of applying it in the gas. The obtd. scavenging material is effectively used to the recovery of iodine from a natural gas, etc., and the removal of a radioactive iodine compd. contg. in a waste gas and a waste liquor coming from an atomic energy plant.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently perform the filter of gas for a long time by treating gas to be treated by means of a granular adsorbent and thereafter treating it by ion exchange fiber. CONSTITUTION:Gas contg. an unavailable material such as i.e. NH3 or an available material is treated by activated carbon, impregnated carbon which is impregnated with chemicals capable of adsorbing aidic gas and alkaline gas and a granular adsorbent such as silica gel and alumina gel and thereafter treated by ion exchange fiber such as cation exchange fiber, anion exchange fiber and chelate exchange fiber respectively having a cation exchange group, an anion exchange group and a chelate group. Air-permeable resistance is reduced and simultaneously high-degree filter of gas is efficiently performed for a long time by performing two treatments in such a way.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the staining on a spinneret and obtain polycarproamide fibers having improved light fastness, etc., by blending a polycaproamide with an acrylonitrile copolymer containing magnesium oxide, and melt spinning the resultant blend. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polycaproamide is blended with (B) 0.5-2wt%, based on the total components (A) and (B), composition containing (i) an acrylonitrile copolymer, e.g. acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer, and (ii) 0.4-10wt%, based on the weight of the component (B), magnesium oxide, and the resultant blended polymer is then melt spun to give the aimed fibers. The component (B) containing further a copper halide in an amount of 0.5-10wt% may be further used.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title fibers having improved strength, luster, and transparency at a low cost, by melt spinning a blend of a thermoplastic polymer comprising acnylonitrile as a comonomer and a polyamide, and by cold-drawing the fibers thus obtained. CONSTITUTION:A blend of (A) a polyamide having a relative viscosity etar of 2.2-4.2 in sulfuric acid and (B) 0.2-2.0wt% of a thermoplastic polymer, e.g. acrylonitrile-methyl methacrylate copolymer, comprising acrylonitrile as a comonomer with an intrinsic viscosity [eta] of 0.3-1.2, measured by using a solution in chloroform, and the second-order transition point >=100 deg.C is melt spun at a speed >=400m/min, preferably 1,000-2,500m/min, into fibers. The fibers thus obtained are cold-drawn, preferably in the atmosphere at 20-30 deg.C and 40-90% RH at a draw ratio >=3 to give the desired fibers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To impart high deodorizing capacity to a synthetic polymer molded product excellent in mechanical properties as uniform as possible, by applying low temp. plasma treatment to the polymer molded product and impregnating the treated product with a chemical agent containing an oxycaboxylic acid compound having two or more carboxyl groups in the molecule thereof and a ferrous salt. CONSTITUTION:Low temp. plasma treatment is applied to a polymer molded product. That is, the molded product is exposed to low temp. plasma generated by applying photo-voltage in a vacuum container filled with specific gas. A deodorizing material to be infiltrated in this polymer molded product is prepared by compounding an oxycarboxylic acid compound having two or more carboxyl groups in the molecule thereof with a ferrous salt. This ferrous ion shows marked stability against oxygen in air and has light fastness and heat resistance, and the active state of the ferrous ion is kept for a long period of time. By this method, the impregnation property of the chemical agent increases and the adhesion of the chemical agent being the deodorizing material is made uniform even with respect to the polymer molded product having high hydrophylicity and deodorizing efficiency can be enhanced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an adsorption unit for an air cleaner having small pressure drop and long adsorption lifetime, by rolling and laminating an adsorption sheet with described space from each other and both ends thereof opened to the outside. CONSTITUTION:Agents to eliminate smell is applied to a sheet-like matter (e.g. non-woven fabrics of nylon) by impregnation or spraying to form an adsorption sheet 1. The adsorption sheet 1 thus obtained is formed into a laminated rolling structure having a space between adjacent sheets by, for example, inserting spacers thereinto, with both ends opened to the outside and is then molded into an adsorption unit, after which the adsorption unit 1 is placed and fixed in a case 2 in such a way that the surfaces thereof is parallel to the air flow. Air is sucked, as shown by an arrow A, into an end opening formed in the manner as stated above and flows parallel to the surface of the adsorption unit 1 to be discharged from the opposite opening as shown by an arrow B. As a result, since air does not cross the adsorption sheet 1, pressure drop of air is negligible. With regard to the adsorption unit, the ratio between the length L between both ends thereof and a space D provided between adjacent sheets is preferred to be L/D >=2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent putrefaction of apples and hold the freshness degree for a long period, by blending a packaging material for apples with a blending agent consisting of a hydroxycarboxylic acid and/or L-ascorbic acid and a ferrous salt. CONSTITUTION:This packaging material for apples is prepared by blending a blending agent consisting of (A) a hydroxycarboxylic acid having >=2 carboxyl groups in the molecule and/or L-ascorbic acid and (B) a ferrous salt. The blending molar ratio [(A):(B)] of the components (A) to (B) is preferably 0.01:1-1.5:1. Tartaric acid, citric acid, malic acid, etc., may be cited as the above-mentioned hydroxycarboxylic acid. Ferrous sulfate, ferrous chloride, ferrous nitrate, etc., may be cited as the ferrous salt. The ferrous salt is normally prepared as an aqueous solution in about 0.01-1mol/l concentration. A basic material for packaging is blended with the above-mentioned blending agent by a method for impregnating, coating, spraying, etc., and dried to afford the aimed packaging material.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a deodorizing material wherein the deodorization effect of odor generated from fresh food and waste or the like is excellent and the effect is maintained for a long period by blending both a hydroxycarboxylic acid compd. having >=2 pieces carboxy group in a molecule and ferrous salt and sulfate or sulfite. CONSTITUTION:An aq. soln. contg. both hydroxycarboxylic acid having >=3 pieces carboxy group such as tartaric acid and citric acid and ferrous salt such as ferrous sulfate and sulfate or sulfite is prepared. Ferrous salt is ordinarily regulated to 0.01-1mol/l and the amount of a hydroxycarboxylic acid compd. and sulfate or sulfite is regulated to about 0.003/1-2/1 and 0.05/1-10/1(mol/mol) respectively for ferrous salt. The obtained raw liquid is used by directly scattering it and besides can be used by impregnating it into a base material such as a paper product and drying it and extremely excellent is exhibited in the deodorization of ammonia, amines and hydrogen sulfide or the like.
