    Abstract: A belt drive module and a corresponding method includes or employs a belt (10) that moves along a path, at least one support roller (12) or other structure that supports the belt as it moves along the path, a drive roller (11) that effects movement of the belt along the path, a tension roller (74) that applies a tension force to the belt in order to maintain engagement of the belt with the drive and/or support rollers, at least one processing station (e.g., an image processing station) disposed along the path that performs a process relative to a predetermined position of the belt, and a torque assist drive that applies a torque assist force (Td) at a location between the drive roller and the tension roller. Torque assist may be provided by a current limited DC motor or by a constant torque friction clutch applied to a roller (66), e.g., a stripper roller of an electrophotographic imaging system. Advantageously, the torque assist force (Td) facilitates accurate positioning of the belt (e.g., latent image registrations in a color imaging process employing multiple imaging processing stations) by reducing slippage between the drive roller and the belt that may be encountered due to belt wear, toner contamination and/or other debris.

    Abstract: A method of printing includes processing a print job stream to identify o ne or more images to be printed on a first substrate. The first substrate has a substrate attribute, such as paper weight or surface roughness, which is different from that of a second substrate. A marking engine is selected to print the identified images on the selected first substrate. An operating parameter of the marking engine is modified from a set point for the second substrate to a modified set point for the first substrate, to accommodate the substrate attribute of the selected first substrate. The identified images are sent to the selected marking engine to be printed.

    Abstract: A sensor module is able to sense at least one aspect of objects produced by a plurality of object sources. Since one sensor module or set of sensor elements is used to examine out put from the plurality of object sources, sensor to sensor variation is removed as a source of error. In a multi-engine document processor, information from the sensor module is used to adjust process actuators, adjust image data and/or generate scheduling constraints to improve output consistency. For example, facing pages of a document are rendered only on marking engines operating within a predetermined tolerance of one another. Image data may be altered so that related images are within the measured capabilities of a plurality of marking engines. System actuators, such as xerographic actuators, of selected marking engines are adjusted to improve output consistency between marking engines.

    Abstract: A method for scheduling print jobs for a plurality of printers (40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50) includes, for each of a plurality of print jobs, determining a numbe r of pages of a first print modality (such as black only printing) and of a second prin t modality (such as color printing) for the print job. A file header is determined, bas ed on the number of pages of the first and second print modalities in the print job. The scheduler schedules a sequen ce for printing the plurality of print jobs by the plurality of printers, based on minimizing, for at least one of the plurality of printers, a number of periods of time durin g the sequence of printing where the at least one printer is in a non-operational mode; and/or maximizing continuous run time for at least one of the printers.

    Abstract: In color printing with a color registration system for the registration of plural color images on an image bearing surface, such as a photoreceptor belt (12) of a color printer, registration marks (32) are imaged on the image bearing surface, which registration marks correspond to the color images and are sensed by a registration marks sensor (22). The system first automatically images first registration marks (32), preferably "Z" targets, which provide wider initial mis-registration latitude for the sensor (22) for gross registration. When an initial registration is achieved, the system automatically switches to imaging second registration marks (36), preferably chevron targets, providing higher registration accuracy for the sensor (22). These registration targets may be generated along opposite sides of the image area on opposite sides of the photoreceptor (12) or other belt.

    Abstract: In color printing with a color registration system for the registration of plural color images on an image bearing surface, such as a photoreceptor belt of a color printer, chevron shaped registration marks are imaged on the image bearing surface, which registration marks correspond to the color images and are sensed by a registration marks sensor as the image bearing surface moves in its process direction. The registration marks sensor has chevron shaped optical sensing areas provided by a matching pair of spaced apart elongated bi-cell detector s in a generally chevron shaped pattern. Each of these spaced apart elongated bi-ce ll detectors has a parallelogram shaped optical sensing area. That parallelogra m shaped sensing area is defined by elongated parallelogram sides extending at the same angle as one leg of the chevron shaped registration marks, and parallelogram ends which are parallel to the process direction, so as to provide higher color registration accuracy.

    SOLUTION: Assessment definitions are stored in an assessment repository. The educational assessments uniquely corresponding to an individual student having the educational plan is generated through the use of one of the educational assessment definitions.
