Abstract: Described herein is a composite comprising a fluorinated polymer and nanoparticles of lithium fluoride. The lithium fluoride has an average BET surface area of at least 10 m2/g. The fluorinated polymer includes a fluorinated polymer backbone chain and a plurality of groups represented by formula –SO2X, in which each X is independently -NZH, -NZSO2(CF2)1-6SO2X', -NZ[SO2(CF2)dSO2NZ]1-10SO2(CF2)dSO2X', or -OZ, and Z is independently a hydrogen, an alkali-metal cation, or a quaternary ammonium cation, X' is independently –NZH or –OZ, and each d is independently 1 to 6. A polymer electrolyte membrane, an electrode, and a membrane electrode assembly including the composite are also provided.

Abstract: In an aspect, a thermoplastic composite comprises a polypropylene; a plurality of glass fibers; wherein the glass fibers comprise boric acid and CaO, both based on the total weight of the glass fibers; a plurality of clay platelets; and a plurality of clay rods; and wherein the thermoplastic composite comprises 0.5 to 10 weight percent of the of the sum of the plurality of clay platelets and the plurality of the clay nanorods based on the total weight of the thermoplastic composite. In another aspect, an article comprises an antenna array; a reflecting layer located on a surface of the antenna array; and a spacer layer comprising a thermoplastic component located in between the antenna array and the reflecting layer, wherein the thermoplastic composite comprises a thermoplastic polymer; a plurality of glass fibers; a plurality of clay platelets; and a plurality of clay rods.

Abstract: A flexible cellular foam (1, 112, 114, 116, 122, 124) or composition (300a, 300b, 300c) contains a flexible foam structure that comprises a plurality of highly thermally conductive solids including nanomaterials (10, 42). The thermally conductive solids may be carbon nanomaterials (10, 42) or other metallic or non-metallic solids. The carbon nanomaterials (10, 42) may include, but are not necessarily limited to, carbon nanotubes and graphite nanoplatelets. The highly thermally conductive solids may include but are not limited to micro- sized solids that may include graphite flakes, for example. When mixed within flexible foam, the presence of nanomaterials may impart greater support factor, greater thermal conductivity, and/or a combination of these improvements. The flexible foam (1, 112, 114, 116, 122, 124) composition may be polyurethane foam, latex foam, polyether polyurethane foam, viscoelastic foam, high resilient foam, polyester polyurethane foam, foamed polyethylene, foamed polypropylene, expanded polystyrene, foamed silicone, melamine foam, among others.

Abstract: 提供了一种光敏聚酰亚胺复合材料的制备方法,包括以下步骤:将二元胺单体、功能化石墨烯量子点以及二元酐单体先后溶解于有机溶剂中,其中二元酐单体分批加入;经预设时间反应制得聚酰胺酸溶液;然后先后掺入光敏性叔胺和光引发剂,按照预设时间搅拌后得到混合溶液;将混合溶液旋转涂布,得到光敏聚酰胺酸薄膜;在一定温度范围内经梯度亚胺化处理得到光敏聚酰亚胺复合材料;其中,功能化石墨烯量子点利用柠檬酸热解法制得石墨烯量子点,用二氨基吡啶与功能化石墨烯量子点进行酰胺化反应得到。制备方法简单,所制备的石墨烯量子点达到纳米级,比表面积大,经改性后可以均匀分散在光敏聚酰亚胺基体中,形成厚度均匀可控的薄膜材料。

Abstract: A latex or natural rubber composition or formulation, latex or rubber products made using the same, and methods of preparing a vulcanized rubber and latex or natural rubber products are disclosed. The composition / formulation includes latex or natural rubber, 0.1-5 phr of a vulcanization activator, and 0.5-10 phr of one or more accelerators and/or additional activators. At least one accelerator and/or additional activator is a nanocomposite zinc oxide. The method includes, mixing a source of the latex or rubber with a vulcanization activator and one or more nanocomposite zinc oxides in a tank or vessel to form a latex or rubber formulation, dipping or at least partially immersing one or more molds or formers in the latex or rubber formulation to form a latex or rubber coating thereon, and curing the latex or rubber coating to vulcanize the latex or rubber coating. The vulcanized latex product is strong and has antimicrobial properties.

Abstract: Transparent articles and methods of producing transparent articles are provided. The transparent article includes hydrophobic nanoparticles dispersed within poly(methyl methacrylate). The method of producing transparent articles includes pouring a transparent article precursor into a mold, the transparent article precursor comprising nanoparticles, a solvent, and a polymer, and the mold comprising a flat surface. The method also includes placing the mold into a container having an adjustable opening and allowing the solvent to evaporate from the transparent article precursor, thereby forming the transparent article over the flat surface of the mold. The method further includes flattening the transparent article, in which flattening the transparent article includes positioning a flat article on a first side of the transparent article, and compressing the transparent article between the flat surface and the flat article.
