Abstract: Provided is a method of producing polymer articles comprising (i) subjecting a composition to additive processing in an additive processing device containing at least one energy source wherein the composition comprises particles of a first polymer, particles of a second polymer and at least one binder material capable of binding the polymer particles to form a layer in a part of the composition that has been exposed to the energy source of the additive processing device; (ii) subjecting at least a part of the composition to exposure of the energy source to form a layer comprising the polymer particles and binder material; (iii) repeat step (ii) to form a plurality of layers to create an article; and wherein the first polymer is selected from polymers having a melting point above of at least 250°C or a glass transition temperature (Tg) of greater than 70°C and is not a fluoropolymer and wherein the second polymer is a fluoropolymer. Also provided are materials obtained by this method and articles containing such materials.

Abstract: Described herein is a composite comprising a fluorinated polymer and nanoparticles of lithium fluoride. The lithium fluoride has an average BET surface area of at least 10 m2/g. The fluorinated polymer includes a fluorinated polymer backbone chain and a plurality of groups represented by formula –SO2X, in which each X is independently -NZH, -NZSO2(CF2)1-6SO2X', -NZ[SO2(CF2)dSO2NZ]1-10SO2(CF2)dSO2X', or -OZ, and Z is independently a hydrogen, an alkali-metal cation, or a quaternary ammonium cation, X' is independently –NZH or –OZ, and each d is independently 1 to 6. A polymer electrolyte membrane, an electrode, and a membrane electrode assembly including the composite are also provided.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fluoropolymer powder for additive manufacturing of fluoropolymers having an average particle size (d 50 ) in a range from 20 to 100 micrometers, preferably 30 to 70 micrometers, more preferably from 30 to 65 micrometers, most preferably from 30 to 60 micrometers and an average particle size (d 90 ) in a range from 60 to 120 micrometers, and a bulk density of at least 800 g/l and no greater than 2000 g/l when measured according to DIN EN ISO 60:2000-1. Also provided are uses of the powder, processes of making the powders, articles produced by using the powder and processes for additive manufacturing using the powder.

Abstract: Method of producing purified fluoropolymers comprising repeat units of tetrafluoroethylene and a fluoro-olefin comprising SO3- groups are described. In a first step, an unpurified aqueous dispersion of the fluoropolymer, including the counter-cations of the SO3- groups, is subjected to cation exchange. This cation-exchanged dispersion is then subjected to ultrafiltration. The resulting purified dispersions and fluoropolymers contain low levels of both cations and anions. Articles prepared from such purified fluoropolymers are also described.

Abstract: The method of making a three-dimensional article includes heating a composition comprising a polymer and hollow ceramic microspheres, extruding the composition in molten form from an extrusion head to provide at least a portion of a first layer of the three-dimensional article, and extruding at least a second layer of the composition in molten form from the extrusion head onto at least the portion of the first layer to make at least a portion of the three-dimensional article. Three-dimensional articles are also described. A composition including a polymer and hollow ceramic microspheres is also described. The composition may be a filament. The polymer is at least one of a low-surface-energy polymer or polyolefin. The composition can be useful, for example, in melt extrusion additive manufacturing, for example, fused filament fabrication.
