Abstract:
A system and method for minimizing door related injuries are disclosed. Briefly, a mechanism requiring little or no external power is used to vary the force needed to open a door. If an obstruction (i.e. a person, pet, etc) is within the sweep of the opening door, the force needed by the user to push open the door will be increased, to give the user tactile feedback that an accident may be imminent. The feedback mechanism can be implemented in a variety of ways, including embodiments that require no external power or battery. A sensor is used to detect the presence of an obstruction within the sweep of the door. In a further embodiment, a mechanism is used to slow or stop a door from closing if an obstruction (such as a finger) is in the return path of the door.
Abstract:
A powered sliding device includes a wire drum (16) connected to a vehicle sliding door (11) through wire cables (18, 19), a motor (14) for rotating the wire drum, a clutch mechanism (25) provided between the motor and the wire drum, a rotational member (85) rotated integrally with the wire drum, detection apparatus (86) for detecting the rotation of the rotational member, and a housing (74). The housing includes a first space (76) accommodating the wire drum and communicating with the outside of the housing through the wire cables and a second space accommodating the rotational member and the detection apparatus, and a housing body (73) provided between the first space and the second space which separates the first space and the second space.
Abstract:
A door actuating system has a fractional horsepower motor mounted on the door adjacent its free edge, driving a clutch connected to a duplex capstan pulley that is wrapped by two tensioned flexible static lines, for opening/closing movement ‘along the line’. The motor also drives a gear that engages a rack projecting from the door frame, to displace the door relative to its frame. Rotation of the gear is read by a rotary encoder, which feeds a microprocessor, to continuously monitor the location, speed and direction of motion of the door, for both the ‘on’ and the ‘off’ condition of the electric motor. A latching clip over-rides action of the original door latch.
Abstract:
This invention provides a jack system (2) provided with a cylinder (14) provided with stop means (32). It also comprises:a body (36) hinged about an end (18) of the piston, the body comprising stop means (54) and being able to occupy a first angular position authorising the extraction of the piston, as well as a second angular position uniquely allowed when the piston occupies a position such that the means (54) are located beyond the means (32) in an extraction position (34), the body occupying the second position providing the facing of means (32, 54); andan electromagnetic attraction/repulsion device (64) designed to provide the displacement of the body (36) from the first position to the second position, and inversely.
Abstract:
Under a method to control a sliding speed in accordance with this invention, the motor is initially accelerated for a predetermined reference speed, and then during the initial acceleration period, if a rotational speed of the wire drum is of and above a given value, a difference between a rotational speed of the wire drum and a rotational speed of the motor is of and above a given value, and a rate of acceleration of the wire drum is of and above a given value, the rotational speed of the motor is reduced temporarily judging the slide door is in a state of abnormal acceleration, and then the motor is accelerated again at a lower rate than the initial acceleration toward the reference speed.
Abstract:
An actuator for driving an operating mechanism that operates an operated member of a vehicle by means of a driving of an electric drive source includes a housing for supporting the electric drive source, a detecting means for detecting an operation status of the operated member or the operating mechanism, a switch connector including an output terminal provided as an electric path from the detecting means, and a power feeding connector formed on the housing and including an input terminal provided as an electric path to the electric drive source and a first engaging portion onto which the switch connector is fit.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a door jamb finger guard. The finger guard comprises a door lock for preventing closure of the door, a housing for the door lock and an activating means. The activating means is activateable by a door closing obstacle for automatically moving the door lock between an inactive position and an active position. In the inactive position, the door lock is recessed within the housing, while in the active position, the door lock projects from the housing to prevent closure of the door.
Abstract:
A clutch mechanism of the present power device comprises a fixed gear member, a moving gear member engaged with the fixed gear member when moving to a clutch connecting position, an armature for moving the moving gear member to the clutch connecting position when rotated relatively to the moving gear member, an electromagnetic coil unit for applying a brake resistance to the armature, and a clutch holding surface for abutting against the moving gear member when the electromagnetic coil unit is turned off in the clutch connecting state and for holding the moving gear member at a brake-clutch connecting position. The abutment of the moving gear member against the clutch holding surface is released by rotating the moving gear member relatively to the armature in a state in which the electromagnetic coil unit is operated.
Abstract:
A guide rail assembly for moving a closure panel of a motor vehicle between an open position and a closed position includes a guide rail fixedly secured to the motor vehicle. A slide mechanism slidably engages the guide rail. A rod has one end coupled to the slide mechanism and an opposing end coupled to the closure panel to move the closure panel as the slide mechanism slides along the guide rail. A drive is fixedly secured to the guide rail for selectively driving the slide mechanism along the guide rail. A clasp is operatively secured to the slide mechanism for selectively coupling the drive to the slide mechanism such that the drive moves the slide mechanism along the guide rail to move the closure panel between the open and closed positions when the slide mechanism is coupled with the drive.
