    Abstract: An adjustable pedal assembly for a motor vehi-cle includes a bracket for mounting the adjustable pedal assembly to the motor vehicle. A pivot link is pivotally mounted to the bracket. The pivot link has a first guide slot and a first pin. A pedal is pivotally secured to the pivot link and includes an arm. The arm has a second guide slot and a second pin. The second guide slot works in conjunction with the first pin whereas the first guide slot works in conjunction with the second guide pin. Together, these pairings define the relative movement between the pivot link and the pedal arm. A drive assembly extends be-tween said first pin and said second pin. The drive assembly slides the pedal arm relative to the pivot link to extend and re-tract the pedal with respect to the operator.

    Abstract: A power drive assembly moves a liftgate (12) of a motor vehicle (10) between its open and closed positions. The motor vehicle (10) defines an opening and the liftgate (12) closes the opening when the liftgate (12) is in its closed position. The power drive assembly (22) includes a base (24) that is fixedly secured to the motor vehicle (10) at a position in spaced relation to the opening. A drive mechanism (38) is fixedly secured to the guide. The drive mechanism (38) converts electrical energy into a linear force. The power dri ve assembly (22) includes a translation linkage (58) connected to the drive mechanism (38) for receiving the linear force and translating it into a nonlinear force to move the liftgate (12) between the open position and the closed position. A nut (52), secured to the translation linkage (58), moves the translation linkage (58) as it travels along a lead screw (50) that is rotated by a motor (40).

    Abstract: A pinch sensing arrangement (10) for a motor vehicle power liftgate (12) mounted to the body (16) of the motor vehicle (14) and driven by a drive mechanism (20) between an open position a nd a closed position. The pinch sensing arrangement (10) includes a mounting track (24), a sensor (22) and a control module (26) . The mounting track (24) is attached to the liftgate (12). The sensor (22) is attached to the mounting track (24) and elongated along at least one of the lateral sides (28,30) of the liftgate (12). The sensor (22) is operative for generating an electrical signal when compressed. The control module (26) is in electrical communication with the sensor (22) and is adapted to control the drive mechanism (20) to articulate the liftgate (12) to the open position upon receiving the electrical signal.

    Abstract: A power drive mechanism (10) for a motor vehicle liftgate includes a linking arm (18) pivotally connected with the liftgate, a crank arm (12) drivable for pivotal movement and connected with the linking arm (18), and a gear train (20) operatively engaging the crank arm (12). A drive motor (34) is operatively connected with the crank arm (12) through the gear train (20) to provide power assisted opening and closing of the liftgate. The gear train (20) is disengageable from the drive motor (34) to permit manual opening and closing of the liftgate without backdriving the drive motor (34). An actuator (74) is operatively connected with the gear train (20) to move the gear train into and out of engagement with the drive motor. A holding linkage (60, 62) is operatively associated with the gear train (20) to maintain the gear train (20) in engagement during power assisted opening and closing of the liftgate.

    Abstract: A vehicle door module (10) has a hardware sub-module (14, 114) and a trim su b- module (12). The hardware sub-module (14, 114) includes a structural carrier plate (54) containing hardware mounting surfaces. The carrier plate (54) has an upper body panel (62) and a bifurcated lower body portion comprising two legs (64, 66) extending from th e upper body panel in opposite directions.     Abstract: The present application discloses a power actuator for a latch assembly. The power actuator has a motor (70) having a rotatable motor output member (94) and a clutch assembly (50). The clutch assembly has a rotatable clutch output member (48). A stamped, cup-shaped ferromagnetic coil casing (126) has a generally radially extending base wall and an annular side wall extending generally axially from the base wall. An annular ferromagnetic flux intensifying washer (160) is positioned adjacent to the base wall of the coil casing. An annular coil of electroconductive material is operable to selectively generate a magnetic field. The coil (112-118) is disposed within the casing with the side wall extending in surrounding relation with respect to the coi l such that the field generated by the coil flows generally radially through the base wall and generally axially through said side wall. A ferromagnetic armature (120) is in sliding relation with the annular coil and movable between (a) an engaged position wherein the armature couple s the motor output member and the clutch output member together so that energization of the motor rotatably drives the clutch outpu t member and (b) a disengaged position wherein the motor output member and the clutch output member are uncoupled to enable the clutch outpu t member to rotate without resistance from the motor. Selective energizing of the coil effects movement of the armature between th e engaged and disengaged positions thereof.

    Abstract: A self-releasing clutch assembly for locking a vehicle door lock. The clutch assembly (11) includes a servo-actuated input drive and a cinching output drive. A gear shaped first actuator (42) is mounted to the input drive. A cylindrical second actuator (44) is mounted to the output drive and is moveable relative to the first actuator. Four pai rs of rollers (50) are interdisposed between the first and second actuators and moveable between a disengaged position and an engaged position . With the disengaged position, the rollers rest against the first actuator and allowing the second actuator to rotate relative thereto. With the engaged position, the rollers interlock the first and second actuators for relative concurrent movement. The clutch assembly is characterized by the first actuator including four driving surfaces (43) and the second actuator including four corresponding abutments (48). The driving surfaces engage and move the rollers from the disengaged position to the engaged position in response to movement by the input drive. The abutments then lock the rollers between the first and second actuators to couple the input drive with the output drive thereby transferring the movement of the input drive to the output drive. The subject invention also includes a biasing device (54) for automatically returning the rollers to the disengaged position when the driving force from the first actuator ceases.

    Abstract: A parking brake assembly for a vehicle has a mounting bracket, a handle assembly and a clutching mechanism. The mounting bracket has a stop. The handle assembly is pivotally mounted on the mounting bracket for rotation about a first axis. The handle is moveable between a brake applied position and a brake release position. The handle has an actuator. A cam is pivotally mounted on the handle about a second axis offset from the first axis. The cam has a cam surface which varies radially from the second axis. The cam is biased to engage the stop. A clutch spring frictionally engages the cam and is operably connected to the actuator. Movement of the actuator in response to manual manipulation responsively moves the clutch spring to decrease the frictional engagement, thereby enabling the cam to engage with the stop. In response to releasing the actuator, the clutch spring moves to increase frictional engagement with the cam thereby retaining the cam in a position to engage th e stop and prop the handle in a braking position.
