Abstract: A voice information system utilizing approximately matched input character string and key word and a method for the approximate matching thereof is disclosed. A telephone apparatus is provided to transmit a dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) signal by utilizing a character panel including a plurality of buttons which are orderly arranged therein. An exchange apparatus is provided to intermediate the DTMF signal. A telephone line matching apparatus is connected from the exchange apparatus to detect a line status of the system and protect the system from an instantaneous higher voltage. A DTMF receiver apparatus converts the DTMF signal into a corresponding digital signal. A service provider terminal apparatus is provided to input a plurality of key words corresponding to each service name and information data to be provided. A key word storage apparatus includes a service name file unit for storing a service name file, and a key word dictionary unit for storing a key word dictionary. A text information storage apparatus stores a plurality of information data corresponding to each service name. A central processing unit converts a digital signal outputted from the DTMF receiver apparatus into an input character string to match the input character string with the key words stored in the key word storage apparatus in order to provide information data. A voice output apparatus is connected from the central processing unit, for converting a digital voice data signal into a voice signal to thereby provide the desired information service to the user.

Abstract: From the clock signal of a voltage controlled oscillator there is derived a true and a phase-inverted clock. A synchroniser device synchronises NRZ data received at the input, with the true and inverse clock. A first circuit forms the phase difference between the NRZ data received at the input, and that synchronised with the true clock. A second circuit forms the phase difference between the NRZ data synchronised with the phase inverted clock and that synchronised with the phase-true clock. The outputs of the two circuits are compared together to form a phase difference, and this is used to determine the phase and frequency. Logic circuitry is described, using D flip-flop and exclusive OR gates. ADVANTAGE - Reduced jitter, in circuit using standard elements.

Abstract: Mfr. of a self-aligned MESFET with a T-shaped tungsten gate electrode involves (a) applying a thin Si layer over the entire surface of a semi-insulating GaAs substrate by plasma-enhanced CVD, applying a Si3N4 layer by photo-CVD and ion implanting to produce an n-active layer using a photo-mask; (b) forming a gate electrode pattern by etching the Si3N4 layer using. the photo-mask; (c) selectively depositing tungsten by CVD only on the exposed Si layer and not on the Si3N4 layer; (d) thickening the tungsten in the transverse direction to form a T-shape; (e) forming an n+-layer by ion implantation using the T-shaped tungsten gate such that the gap between the gate electrode and the n+-layer is 1000-2000 Angstroms; (f) activating the n- and n+-layers using the Si layer and the Si3N4 layer as cover film; (g) ion implanting through the Si and Si3N4 layers to provide insulation between the devices; and (h) etching the Si and Si3N4 layers and applying an ohmic metallisation (AuGe/Ni) by a lift-off technique using a photo-mask to form a source and a drain. ADVANTAGE - The process minimises impurity problems caused by exposure of the GaAs layer to air and minimises mechanical damage during gate electrode application. Additionally, it avoids As evapn. during the high temp. activation process. The process is simple compared with the conventional SAINT process (self-aligned implantation of n+-layer technology).
