Abstract: A retractable flexible screen for installation to a frame of a fenestration product, the frame having opposite pairs of frame members. The flexible screen extending and retracting across an opening in the fenestration product and including flexible screen material (210) and a roller system (230) upon which the screen material (210) is unwound and wound. The roller system (230) mounting to a pair of mounting brackets (280), each attachable to one of the pairs of frame members. A control bar (22) connects to the screen material (210) and moves along a pair of tracks (300, 350) each mountable to the same pair of frame members, the screen material (210) extending from the roller system (230) to one of the other pair of frame members. A gripper system (400) mounts in the tracks and grips the screen material in a closed flexible screen. A spring tensioning system (500) provides post-installation access to adjust the tension of a spring within the roller system.

Abstract: A double hung window having a tiltable sash includes a sash brake for preventing movement of the sash along the jambs while in the tilted position. The preferred sash includes respective tongues extending along the stiles that are configured for reception in corresponding channels in the jambs for slidably mounting the sash and providing a real between the stiles and window frame. The preferred brake elements each include a base configured for fitting within a groove of a respective tongue and a brake shoe that extends into the channel. Each shoe has a length greater than the width of channel so that when the sash is tilted, the shoe engages the channel side walls to provide braking against movement while in the tilted position.

Abstract: The operator assembly for a casement window includes a folding crank hand le and cover assembly that are located on the exterior surface of a trim piece on the sill of the window frame. The crank handle is attached to the drive shaft of the operator of the assembly in such a way that the handle may be folded down into a low-profile position in which the knob of the handle projects into a receiving pocket in the cove r. An integral flap on the handle extending beyond the knob covers the pocket when the knob is received therein so as to fully conceal both the knob and the pocket and to present a smooth exterior in which surfaces of the handle and cover blend together to eliminate interference with window treatments and persons in the immediately vicinity. Internal detent projections within the pocket yieldably retain the knob so as to provide for snap fit reception of the folded handle into its home position. Finger depression s in sidewalls of the cover on opposite sides of the pocket facilitate gripping of the edge s of the handle for unfolding, even though the handle presents a relatively thin cross sectional configuration in the vicinity of the cover flap and pocket. An alternative embodiment discloses an egress operator assembly in which the single link arm that swin gs the sash between opened and closed positions has a hump adjacent its inner end that clears the worm gear of the operator assembly when the arm is in its fully closed position, thus allowing the arm to cross over the worm gear and lie along the sill in a compacted condition when the sash is closed.

Abstract: An improved window sash assembly which includes a sash held together by corn er locks. The corner locks are all of similar construction, but may accommodate either tilt latch mechanisms or pivot terminal mechanisms. By utilizing a single corner bracke t for both types of sash connectors, costs can be reduced and efficiencies increased. Additionally, the improved system imparts structural and sealing characteristics to the sash.
