    Abstract: The invention relates to a method of regulating, for the purpose of burning soda-ash in a recovery boiler furnace, the feeding-in or combustion conditions of concentrated spent liquors of varying chemical and physical properties by measuring some physical property of a liquor fed into the recovery boiler furnace and by regulating the feeding-in and combustion conditions directly on the basis of the thus measured physical properties. According to the invention, the maximum swelling, upon heating, of a dry-matter particle of the liquor fed into the recovery boiler furnace is measured. On the basis of this measurement the temperature, pH value, or injection pressure of the liquor fed into the furnace, or the height of the injection point or the direction of injection, or the feeding of air into the furnace is adjusted directly on the basis of the maximum swelling measurement.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce an operation cost by forming a rock drilling apparatus so that the ratio of a pressure of a pressure fluid supplied to an impact device to that supplied to a feeding device can be adjusted to a specified value by pressure regulating means connected in series to the feeding device. CONSTITUTION: A pressure fluid sucked from a pressure fluid tank by a pump 1 is fed to an impact device through a pressure line 6. When a drill bit touches a soft rock during drilling, a pressure drop occurs in a feed motor 11, and also a pressure drop occurs between a proportional valve 10 and a choke 9. Next, a rapid flow of the fluid to the motor 11 is prevented by the choke 9, a pressure inside a control line 12 is reduced, and the position of a control valve 4 is adjusted so that the volume flow rate of the pump 1 is lowered. When the bit touches a normal rock, a pressure on the supply side of the motor 11 is increased, and a pressure between the proportional valve 10 and the choke 9 is increased until a pressure value to which a pressure relief valve 14 is regulated is reached. In addition, a pressure inside the line 12 is increased, and the volume flow rate of the pump 1 is increased by the control valve 4.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To easily and reliably determine the expansion of a concentrated waste liquor by using the concentration ratio of the lignin to at least one acid present in the liquor as a measure for the expansion. CONSTITUTION: Based on the fact that there is an interdependent relationship between the expansion of a concentrated waste liquor and the concentration ratio of the lignin to acid (s) present in the liquor, the expansion is determined by measuring the concentration of the lignin and the (total) concentration of one or several acid (s) in a concentrated waste liquor. Based on the measurements, the feed conditions of the concentrated waste liquor can be regulated by controlling the chemical or physical properties of the liquor.
