Abstract: The disclosure relates to methods and compositions for use in crustacean aquaculture. In one embodiment, a compound having juvenile hormone activity is administered to female crustacea, as a supplement to conventional aquaculture diet, in an amount effective to stimulate an increase in viable larvae production. In a second embodiment, juvenile hormone, in an edible carrier, is supplied as a substitute for annelid worms in a conventional aquaculture diet.

Abstract: A method for removing volatile organic compounds from a contaminated gas stream includes contacting the contaminated gas stream with a nonvolatile organic liquid absorbent under conditions effective to allow absorption of the volatile organic compound from the gas stream into the absorbent and separation of the absorbed volatile organic compound from the absorbent to provide recycled absorbent and a reclaimed volatile organic compound. An apparatus for removing volatile organic compounds from a contaminated air stream includes means for contacting the contaminated air stream with an absorbent to allow absorption of the volatile organic compound by the absorbent and means for separating the absorbed volatile organic compound from the absorbent.

Abstract: Described herein is an immobilization-free, electrochemical method of detecting a target DNA sequence in a sample. The method includes: incubating the sample with a detection mixture, applying an electric field including an alternating current electric field and a direct current offset to the detection mixture to concentrate nucleic acids in the sample and the nucleic acid probe on a positively charged working electrode, wherein a Class 2 Cas protein trans-cleaved electroactive probe is released from the nucleic acid probe when the target DNA is present in the sample and diffuses toward a negatively charged electrode; and measuring the current as potential is applied, wherein detection of a current in the detection mixture indicates the presence of the target DNA sequence in the sample.
