    Abstract: PURPOSE: An engine cooling apparatus, an electronic thermostat control device, and a method thereof are provided to actively control the temperature of cooling water by variably controlling the rate of cooling water which circulates in a radiator according to the driving state of a vehicle, thereby improving fuel efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An engine cooling apparatus, an electronic thermostat control device, and a method thereof include an electronic thermostat (15), a water temperature sensor (17), and a control unit (100). The electronic thermostat is mounted on a fixed position of a cooling flow path (13) which connects an engine (10) and a radiator (11), and controls the circulation direction and the rate of cooling water. The water temperature sensor detects the temperature of the cooling water which is discharged from the engine. The control unit variably changes the temperature of cooling water by controlling an electronic thermostat according to the temperature of the cooling water and the condition of driving. The control unit prevents the temperature of cooling water from being hunted by controlling the increase or decrease of the caloric value of a heater which is provided inside the electronic thermostat in stages according to the rate of rise in case the temperature of cooling water is included in the predetermined range.
