Abstract: A core-sheath filament having a pressure-sensitive adhesive core and a non-tacky thermoplastic sheath that surrounds the core is provided. The pressure-sensitive adhesive core includes a) a silicone-containing block copolymer having multiple poly-diorganosiloxane segments plus b) a silicone tackifying resin. Additionally, methods of making the core-sheath filament and methods of using the core-sheath filament to print a pressure-sensitive adhesive are described.

Abstract: Crosslinkable compositions, crosslinked compositions, articles containing these compositions, and methods of making the articles are provided. The crosslinkable compositions, which include two (meth)acrylate polymers, are used to form the crosslinked compositions upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The crosslinkable and crosslinked compositions are free or substantially free of tackifiers. The crosslinked compositions can function as pressure-sensitive adhesives. The crosslinkable compositions are well suited for use with hot melt processing methods.

Abstract: An adhesive article comprising first and second tacky latent adhesive layers disposed on respective first and second opposed major surfaces of a substrate. Each of the first and second tacky latent adhesive layers independently comprises at least one polymerizable component, and a redox initiator system comprising a transition metal complex that participates in a redox cycle, an oxidizing agent, and a blocked reducing agent represented by the formula ((I). Each of R1 and R2 are independently H, an alkyl, an aryl, or RPhoto5 with the proviso that at least one of R1 and R2 is RPhoto. RPhoto represents a photoremovable group. Each of R3 and R4 independently represents H, an alkyl group, or an aryl group comprising a monovalent ester, ether, urethane, or carbonate group. Methods of making and using the adhesive articles are also disclosed.

Abstract: Curable adhesive compositions are provided that can be cured using ultraviolet or visible light radiation. These curable adhesive compositions, which contain a curable (meth)acrylate copolymer, have a creep compliance that is less than 5(10−4) inverse Pascals at 25° C., a creep compliance that is greater than 1(10−3) inverse Pascals at 70° C., and a shear storage modulus greater than 40 kiloPascals when measured at 25° C. at a frequency of 1 radian/second.

Abstract: The present invention is an assembly layer for a flexible device. Within a temperature range of between about −30° C. to about 90° C., the assembly layer has a shear storage modulus at a frequency of 1 Hz that does not exceed about 2 MPa, a shear creep compliance (J) of at least about 6×10−6 1 /Pa measured at 5 seconds with an applied shear stress between about 50 kPa and about 500 kPa, and a strain recovery of at least about 50% at at least one point of applied shear stress within the range of about 5 kPa to about 500 kPa within about 1 minute after removing the applied shear stress. The assembly layer includes at least one of a polyisoprene, a polybutadiene, an olefin block copolymer, a polyisobutylene, and high alkyl polyolefin.

Abstract: An adhesive composition includes a first acrylic polymer preparable from first components and a second acrylic polymer. The first components comprising i) a branched first alkyl (meth)acrylate having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms, and ii) at least one of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid. The second acrylic polymer is preparable from second components comprising iii) at least one second alkyl (meth)acrylate having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms, iv) a (meth)acrylamide represented by the formula wherein R1 is H or methyl, and R2 and R3 each independently represents H or an alkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or taken together R2 and R3 may form a divalent alkylene group having from 4 to 6 carbon atoms, and v) at least one high Tg macromer having a terminal free-radically polymerizable unsaturated group, the high Tg macromer having a Tg of at least 45° C. Based on the combined total weight of the at least one first acrylic polymer and the at least one second acrylic polymer, the at least one second acrylic polymer is present at a level of from 5 to 40 percent by weight. Methods of making the adhesive composition are also disclosed.
