Abstract: Thermoplastic moulding materials (I) contain mainly (A) 10-89 wt.% modified polyphenylene ether, (B) 10-89 wt.% polyolefin, (C) 1-40 wt.% block copolymer of a vinylaromatic cpd. and a conjugated diene, and (D) 0-60 wt.% fibrous and/or particulate filler. Amts. are 15-80 wt.% (A), 15-80 wt.% (B) and 5-35 wt.% (C), or 15-79 wt.% (A), 15-79 wt.% (B), 1-20 wt.% (C) and 5-30 wt.% (D); (B) is polypropylene and/or ethylene-propylene copolymer; (C) is partly or fully hydrogenated styrene-butadiene (SB) block copolymer; (D) is glass and/or carbon fibre. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are useful for the prodn. of moulded prods. (claimed); moulded prods. obtd. from (I) are also claimed as such. The invention provides (I) with good impact resistance, satisfactory rigidity and low water absorption, suitable esp. for the prodn. of bodywork parts and functional parts for motor vehicles and moulded prods. for the electrical industry.

Abstract: A heat-distortion-resistant (heat-resistant) thermoplastic moulding composition containing a copolymer comprising the copolymerised monomers a) styrene and at least one b) N-substituted amide of methacrylic acid is characterised in that the monomers are present in the moulding composition in the following proportions, based on a) + b): a) from 5 to 95% by weight b) from 95 to 5% by weight, and furthermore that the monomer b) is the amide of methacrylic acid of the formula where R is a primary, secondary or tertiary alkyl radical, a cycloalkyl radical, an aryl radical or an aralkyl radical having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, with the proviso that, for methyl and isopropyl as alkyl radical, the copolymers have a styrene content of less than 75% by weight. The moulding composition is used for the production of heat-distortion-resistant mouldings, optionally in composites with other thermoplastics.

Abstract: A heat-distortion-resistant (heat-resistant) thermoplastic moulding composition containing a terpolymer comprising the copolymerised monomers a) styrene b) acrylonitrile and at least one c) N-substituted amide of an alpha , beta -monoolefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid is characterised in that the monomers are present in the moulding composition in the following proportions, based on a) + b) + c): a) from 1 to 94% by weight b) from 1 to 40% by weight, c) from 5 to 98% by weight, and furthermore that the monomer c) is the amide of methacrylic acid of the formula where R is a primary, secondary or tertiary alkyl radical, a cycloalkyl radical, an aryl radical or an aralkyl radical having 1 to 12 carbon atoms. The moulding composition is used for the production of heat-distortion-resistant mouldings, or composites with other thermoplastics.
