    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep neutrality in taste and allow both of cleaning and washing processes to be repeated by making tableware using a composition formed out of highly func tional thermoplastic resin and irradiating a high energy radiation thereto. SOLUTION: Highly functional thermoplastic resin to be used, or polyarylene ether has a repetition unit I, and is expressed as shown in the formula, where (t) and (q) have a value between 0 and 3, and T, Q and Z are independent of one another. The amount of highly functional thermoplastic resin A contained in a composition is advantageously between 1 and 100wt.%, preferably between 10 and 90wt.% and particularly between 30 and 70wt.%. Also, the residue of the composition contains a thermosetting polymer B existing by volume advantageously between 0 and 99wt.%, preferably between 5 and 80wt.% and particularly between 10 and 60wt.%, and at the same time, other additives and a processing assistant C existing by a volume advantageously between 0 and 70wt.%, preferably between 5 and 60wt.% and particularly between 10 and 40wt.%. A laser to be used in this case is a CO2 laser (wavelength: 10.6μm) having a frequency multiplier (wavelength: 532, 355 and 256nm), preferably an excimer laser.

    Abstract: Reinforced thermoplastic molding materials containing, as essential components, (A) from 40 to 94 parts by weight of a polymer component of (a1) from 10 to 90% by weight of polyphenylene ether and (a2) from 10 to 90% by weight, based in each case on A, of a styrene polymer toughened with an acrylate rubber or with an unhydrogenated or hydrogenated polymer of a conjugated diene, (B) from 1 to 20 parts by weight of a copolymer of (b1) from 70 to 99.9% by weight of a monomer from the group consisting of styrene, alpha -methylstyrene and styrene alkylated in the nucleus or a mixture of these monomers, (b2) from 0.1 to 30% by weight of one or more compounds from the group consisting of tert-butyl acrylate and tert-butyl methacrylate, or one or more compounds from the group of compounds of the general formula I I where R1 is hydrogen or methyl and R2, R3 and R4 are each an alkyl or alkoxy group of not more than 4 carbon atoms, or of the general formula II II where n is an integer from 1 to 4 and R5, R6 and R7 are each one of the radicals stated for R2 or are each -O(CH2-CH2-O)mR8, where R8 is C1-C4-alkyl and m is 1, 2, 3 or 4, and (b3) from 0 to 10% by weight, based on the copolymer, of a further ethylenically unsaturated monomer which is copolymerizable with b1 and b2, and (C) from 5 to 50 parts by weight of a reinforcing agent, the number of parts by weight being based on 100 parts by weight of the sum of A, B and C, are prepared and used for the production of moldings.
