    Abstract: Radiation-hardened materials containing 0.5-100 wt% carbonate-(meth)acrylate (a) (based on the total amount of radiation-curable compounds) are used as coating materials for exterior applications. Independent claims are also included for:- (1) car bodies or parts of cars coated with these materials; (2) radiation-curable materials containing (a) 5-80 wt% carbonate-(meth)acrylate, (b) 20-95 wt% urethane-(meth)acrylate, epoxide-(meth)acrylate or melamine-(meth)acrylate, (c) 0-50 wt% compounds with (meth)acrylate group(s) other than (a) and (b), and (d) 0-50 wt% radiation-curable compounds without (meth)acrylate groups.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a method for the production of coatings, adhesive layers or seals for primed or unprimed substrates, wherein (1) at least one coating material that can be hardened thermally and/or with actinic radiation and/or an adhesive and/or at least one sealant that can be hardened thermally and/or with actinic radiation in the form of a powder slurry is applied on and/or to the primed or unprimed substrate; (2) the resulting powder slurry layer is dried; (3) the resulting solid layer (2) is molten by heating and (4) the resulting molten layer obtained in step (3) of the method is hardened with near infrared radiation (NIR) in its molten state during and/or after solidification.
