Abstract: The invention relates to a biodegradable polyester film, comprising: i) 80 to 95 wgt.-%, based on the total weight of the components i to ii, of a biodegradable polyester based on aliphatic and aromatic dicarboxylic acids and an aliphatic dihydroxy compound; ii) 5 to 20 wgt.-%, based on the total weight of the components i to ii, of polyhdroxyalkanoate; iii) 10 to 25 wgt.-%, based on the total weight of components i to vi, of calcium carbonate; iv) 3 to 15 wgt.-%, based on the total weight of components i to vi, of talc; v) 0 to 30 wgt.-%, based on the total weight of the components i to vi, of polyactic acid and/or starch; and vi) 0 to 2 wgt.-%, based on the total weight of the components i to vi, of 2-(4,6-Bis-biphenyl-4-yl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-5-(2-ethyl-(n)-hexyloxy)phenol. The invention further relates to the use of said polyester films, in particular for agricultural applications such as mulching films.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing tear-propagation-resistant foils using biologically degradable polyesters which can be obtained by polycondensation from: i) 65 to 80 mol %, based on components i to ii, of one or a plurality of dicarbonic acid derivatives or dicarbonic acids selected from the group consisting of: succinic acid, adipic acid, sebacic acid, azelaic acid and brassylic acid; ii) 35 to 20 mol %, based on components i to ii, of a terephthalic acid derivative; iii) 98 to 102 mol %, based on components i to ii, of a C-C alkylene diol or C-Coxyalkylene diol; iv) 0.05 to 2 wt %, based on the polymer obtainable from components i to iii, of an at least trifunctional crosslinker or of an at least difunctional chain extender. The invention further relates to polymer mixtures which are suitable for producing foils capable of tear propagation.
