    Abstract: A catalyst containing iron or a mixture of iron with copper as its active ingredient, made by precipitating a complex salt of the general formula: Mex¢Fe(CN)6!y in which Me stands for an iron and/or copper ion, x stands for 1, 2, 3 or 4, and y stands for 1, 2 or 3; separating and drying the precipitated salt, and reducing the salt by contacting it with at least stoichiometric proportions of hydrogen or a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, for use in the reduction of carbon monoxide by means of hydrogen with the resultant formation of a mixture consisting substantially of C1-C4 hydrocarbons is modified. The modified catalyst is formeda) by subjecting the precipitated and dried salt to thermal decomposition at a temperature of 200 to 500.degree.C in the absence of hydrogen or a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, orb) mixing the precipitated and dry salt with a carrier, tabletting, pelletizing or extruding the resulting mixture and reducing it by means of hydrogen or a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, orc) mixing the precipitated and dry salt with a carrier, tabletting, pelletizing or extruding the resulting mixture and thermally decomposing it at 200 to 500.degree.C in the absence of hydrogen or a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

    Abstract: The invention provides a carrier-supported catalyst, wherein alumina partially converted to ?-A12O3 is the carrier having between 0.2 and 10 weight % of cerium in oxide form deposited thereon as the catalytically active ingredient. The carrier supported catalyst is made by compressing hydrous alumina or unstable anhydrous alumina into shapes. The shapes are annealed for 10-20 hours at 1000-1250.degree.C. The annealed shapes are impregnated with an aqueous solution of a cerium salt of a readily decomposable acid and dried at 130-150.degree.C. The dry cerium salt is decomposed by gradually heating the shapes at 20--300.degree.C and 450-550.degree.C, respectively, and the resulting cerium oxide-containing shapes are annealed at700-900.degree.C..

    Abstract: 1397957 Detergents containing builders HOECHST AG 14 Sept 1972 [24 Sept 1971] 42706/72 Heading C5D [Also in Division C2] Builders for detergent and cleansing agents comprise water-soluble salts of acid carboxylic acid esters prepared by reacting at least trivalent, 6-10C, aliphatic olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acids or hydroxy-carboxylic acids with aliphatic alcohols (3-6 OH groups), and in which each hydroxylic group of the alcohol and optionally the hydroxycarboxylic acid is esterified with a carboxylic acid molecule. Citric, aconitic, tricarballylic, dihydroxy-tricarballylic, nitrotriacetic and ethylenediamine-tetracetic acids may be used with glycerol, erythritol, pentaerythritol, mannitol, sorbitol or sugar alcohol (4-6 C) and the salts are of alkali metal or ammonium ion. A proportion of 10-80% by weight of salts may be used and then ion-active and/or non-ionic tensides and further conventional additives may be present. Examples describe the use of builders prepared from glycerol, sorbitol or pentaerythritol with nitric acid used with dodecylbenzene sulphonate, tallow fatty alcohol and hardened tallow soap, and also with additional magnesium silicate, sodium silicate, sodium perborate, sodium sulphate and tylose in detergent wash liquors.

    Abstract: Carrier-supported catalyst comprised of a mixture of aluminates of copper, manganese and nickel as is active ingredients, and of pure aluminum oxide as its carrier. The catalyst contains the aluminates in a total proportion of 10 to 45 weight % and may contain copper, manganese and nickel in a ratio by weight of (2-4) : (1-2) : (0.1-1). Between 0.5 and 10 weight % of cerium in oxide form may be further applied to the catalyst.
