    Abstract: 23221-4459 Novel compounds of the general formula I (I) in which R1 represents Hal or C1-C3-alkyl and Hal represents a halogen having an atomic weight of 35 to 80 are disclosed. Also disclosed is a process for the preparation of such compounds by reacting a compound of the general formula II (II) in which R2 represents C1-C3-alkyl or OR3 and R3 represents C1-C8-alkyl, preferably C1-C3-alkyl, with an acid chloride of the formula MHal2 (III), in which M represents SO, CO or PHal3 and Hal represents a halogen having an atomic weight from 35 to 80, which process, if M is CO, is carried out in the presence of a catalyst which is customary for the phosgenation of diesters of phosphonic acid. The compounds of the invention are useful as intermediates for the preparation of aminocarbonylmethyl phosphonic acid and alkyl-aminocarbonylmethylphosphinic acids.
