Abstract: Water-dilutable dispersions of acrylate copolymers Water-dilutable dispersions of acrylate copolymers having a hydroxyl number of from 40 to 200 mg KOH/g and an acid number of from 15 to 50 mg of KOH/g, obtained by freeradical copolymerization of a) from 5 to 40 parts by weight of at least one glycidyl ester of an .alpha.-branched aliphatic saturated monocarboxylic acid, b) from 0 to 30 parts by weight of at least one diester of an .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, c) from 0 to 70 parts by weight of at least one vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon, the molar quantity of component c) always being greater than or equal to the molar quantity of component b), d) from 0 to 60 parts by weight of an alkyl ester of an .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid, e) from 2 to 40 parts by weight of at least one .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid, the molar quantity of component e) always being greater than the molar quantity of component a), f) from 5 to 40 parts by weight of at least one hydroxyalkyl ester of an .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid, the polymerization being carried out in bulk or in solution; if desired, addition of a water-dilutable solvent, neutralization and dilution with water. Abstract: A liquid coating composition is based on an acetoacetate group-containing polymer and a polyamine in the form of the corresponding aldimine or ketimine, where the acetoacetate group-containing polymer is obtained by reacting a polyepoxide with water, an amine, a hydroxycarboxylic acid and subsequently esterifying or transesterifying the final product using acetoacetic acid. This liquid coating composition is particularly suitable as a binder in two-component automobile repair fillers or as a two-component primer.

Abstract: An aqueous coating composition for the manufacture of primers or of filler coatings, which contains at least one water-dispersible binder resin, as well as crosslinking agents and, if appropriate, customary additives, characterised in that the water-dispersible binder resin is at least partly a polyurethane resin which contains components which are derived from (A) polyisocyanates, (B) polyols having an average molecular weight Mn of at least 400, (C) if appropriate low molecular weight polyols, (D) compounds which contain at least two groups which are reactive with isocyanate groups and at least one group capable of anion formation, (E) polyols which carry no further groups reactive with isocyanate groups, where these components (E) are each located on the chain end of the polyurethane resin, if appropriate (F) compounds which are monofunctional or contain active hydrogen of differing reactivity and are different from (E), where these components (F) are also located on the chain end of the polyurethane resin and, if appropriate (G) compounds which are different from (B), (C), (D), (E) and (F) and contain at least two groups reactive with NCO groups. The filler coatings obtainable therefrom are distinguished, inter alia, by improved resistance to flying stones at low temperatures and by good intermediate layer adhesion, while corresponding primers show improved protection against corrosion.
