Abstract: 91/F 398 J Aqueous filler composition Aqueous filler composition comprising a polyester resin, which is built up of the educts (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e) or their ester forming derivatives, the sum of the reactants corresponding to 100 mol-% and the ratio of the sum of the hydroxyl equivalents (eg OH) to the sum of the carboxyl equivalents in the reactants being between 0.5 and 2.0, where (a) is at least one dicarboxylic acid which is not a sulfo or phosphorus monomer, (b) is 0 to 15 mol-% of at least one difunctional sulfo or phosphono monomer, the functional groups of which are carboxyl and/or hydroxyl groups, having at least one sulfonate or phosphonate group, (c) is at least one difunctional compound which is derived from a glycol containing two -C(R)2-OH groups, (d) is up to 40 mol-% of a higher functional compound (functionality > 2), the functional groups of which comprise hydroxyl and/or carboxyl groups, and (e) is 0 to 20 mol-% of a monofunctional carboxylic acid, it being possible for the radicals R in (c) independently of one another to be hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl or C6-C10-aryl, the amounts of free hydroxyl groups being between 30 and 350 milliequivalents OH/100 g, preferably between 100 and 250 meq (OH)/100 g, and the content of free neutralized and/or neutralizable acid groups, in particular sulfonic acid groups, phosphonic acid groups and carboxylic acid groups, being between 5 and 350 meq acid groups/100 g, preferably between 9 and 120 meq acid groups/100 g.

Abstract: A water-dilutable (water-thinnable) two-component coating composition containing a) a polyisocyanate component comprising one or more organic polyisocyanates, and b) a polyurethane resin prepared by 1. reacting (A) polyisocyanates with (B) polyols having a mean molecular weight Mn of at least 400, (C) optionally low-molecular-weight polyols and (D) compounds containing at least two groups which are reactive towards isocyanate groups and at least one group which is capable of anion formation, to give a prepolymer containing free NCO groups, and 2. reacting the prepolymer formed in step 1 with at least one of the components: (E) low-molecular-weight polyols carrying no further groups which are reactive towards isocyanate groups, these compounds being employed in excess, (F) compounds which are monofunctional or contain active hydrogen of different reactivity and are different from (E), and optionally (G) compounds which are different from (B), (C), (D), (E) and (F) and contain at least two groups which are reactive with NCO groups. r

Abstract: 91/F 256 Curable binders obtained by simultaneous reaction of A) urethanes or ureas, B) acrylic or methacrylic compounds containing hydroxyl groups, C) paraformaldehyde and D) if appropriate, polyols, wherein, in the case where no polyol D) is also reacted, the reaction is carried out in the presence of an acid ion exchanger, and in the case where a polyol D) is also reacted, the reaction is carried out in the presence of an acid ion exchanger or a strong acid. These binders are suitable as coating compositions which can be cured by electron beams or by UV light.

Abstract: An aqueous coating composition which contains at least one water-dispersible polyurethane resin containing air-drying groups and optionally further binder resins and conventional (paint) additives, characterised in that the polyurethane resin contains units derived from (A) polyisocyanates, (B) polyols containing air-drying groups, optionally (C) polyols containing no air-drying groups, (D) compounds containing at least two groups which are reactive towards isocyanate groups and containing at least one group which is capable of forming anions, (E) monoalcohols containing air-drying groups, and/or (F) compounds which are different from (B), (C), (D) and (E) and contain at least one group which is reactive with NCO groups. This coating composition has excellent pigment compatibility, and the coatings produced therefrom provide good corrosion protection and have good mechanical properties, even without addition of a siccative.

Abstract: An aqueous coating composition for the manufacture of primers or of filler coatings, which contains at least one water-dispersible binder resin, as well as crosslinking agents and, if appropriate, customary additives, characterised in that the water-dispersible binder resin is at least partly a polyurethane resin which contains components which are derived from (A) polyisocyanates, (B) polyols having an average molecular weight Mn of at least 400, (C) if appropriate low molecular weight polyols, (D) compounds which contain at least two groups which are reactive with isocyanate groups and at least one group capable of anion formation, (E) polyols which carry no further groups reactive with isocyanate groups, where these components (E) are each located on the chain end of the polyurethane resin, if appropriate (F) compounds which are monofunctional or contain active hydrogen of differing reactivity and are different from (E), where these components (F) are also located on the chain end of the polyurethane resin and, if appropriate (G) compounds which are different from (B), (C), (D), (E) and (F) and contain at least two groups reactive with NCO groups. The filler coatings obtainable therefrom are distinguished, inter alia, by improved resistance to flying stones at low temperatures and by good intermediate layer adhesion, while corresponding primers show improved protection against corrosion.

Abstract: 139.171 AQUEOUS COATING COMPOSITION, ITS PREPARATION AND USE Aqueous coating compositions for preparing primers or primer surfacers containing at least one water-dispersible binder resin and crosslinking agents and optionally conventional additives, wherein at least some of the water-dispersible binder resin is a polyurethane resin containing structural units derived from (A) polyisocyanates, (B) polyols having an average molecular weight ?n of at least 400, (C) optionally low-molecular weight polyols, (D) compounds having at least two groups which are reactive toward isocyanato groups and at least one group which is capable of anion formation, (E) polyols carrying no other groups which are reactive with iso cyanato groups, these structural units (E) being in each case at the chain end of the polyurethane resin, (F) optionally compounds which are monofunctional or contain active hydrogen of varying reactivity and are different from (E), these structural units (F) likewise being at the chain end of the polyurethane resin and, (G) optionally compounds which are different from (B), (C), (D), (E) and (F) and contain at least two groups which are reactive with NCO groups. The primer surfacers obtainable therefrom are distinguished, inter alia, by improved stone chip resistance at low temperatures and by good interlayer adhesion, while the corresponding primers show improved corrosion protection.

Abstract: Use of a water-dispersible polymer as binder in an aqueous filler composition which may or may not comprise, in addition to other polymeric binders, crosslinking agents and the customary additives, wherein the water-dispersible polymer is a polyurethane resin which contains building blocks derived from (A) polyisocyanates, (B) polyols having an average molecular weight Mn of at least 400, (C) low-molecular polyols if desired and, (D) compounds containing at least two groups reactive toward isocyanate groups and at least one group capable of forming anions, and (E) compounds which are monofunctional or contain active hydrogen of variable reactivity, these building blocks being always positioned at the chain end fo the polyurethane resin, and optionally (F) compounds which are other than (B), (C), (D) and (E) and contain at least two groups reactive toward NCO groups. The crosslinked filler coatings obtainable therefrom are distinguished, inter alia, by improved stone-chip resistance at low temperatures and by good intercoat adhesion.
