    Abstract: Los poliuretanos- poliureas dispersables en agua se obtienen mediante la reaccion de: a) un componente de poliisocianato, que consiste de por lo menos un poliisocianato orgánico, con b) por lo menos un poliéster poliol reactivo al isocianato que puede ser preparado a partir de: i) uno o más ácidos dicarboxílicos, ii) uno o más dioles, y iii) si se desea uno o más componentes polifuncionales, cuyos grupos funcionales se seleccionan de grupos hidroxilo y carboxilo, y iv) si se desea un ácido carboxílico monofuncional, c) si se desea, un derivado de ácido graso reactivo al isocianato, d) si se desea, un compuesto de funcionalidad relativamente alta (funcionalidad mayor que 2), cuyos grupos funcionales se seleccionan de grupos hidroxilo y carboxilo, y e) un componente de polialquilenglicol que tiene una masa molar de 750 a 10,000 g/moles y f) un compuesto que contieneátomos de hidrogeno activo y en donde el hidrogeno activo reacciona con los grupos NCO más rápidamente que con el agua, mientras se mantiene una relacion del numero de grupos de isocianato al numero de átomos de hidrogeno reactivo al isocianato, basado en todos los componentes de partida a) a f), de 0.6:1 a 1:1, en donde la proporcion en masa de las unidades estructurales derivadas del poliéster en el poliuretano-poliurea es de 10 a 60% y la proporcion en masa de unidades estructurales derivadas de polialquilenglicol es de 25 a 75%.

    Abstract: The prodn. of water-dilutable polyvinyl butyral (PVB) dispersions (I) comprises reacting (A) aliphatic acid(s) contg. 1-3 isocyanate-reactive gps. and 1-3 acid gps. with (B) polyisocyanates with an average functionality of at least 2, in an amt. such that the ratio of NCO gps. in (B) to NCO-reactive gps. in (A) = (2.2:1)-(1.7:1), until the content of residual NCO gps. reaches the calcd. value, then reacting 25-75% of the remaining NCO gps. with (C) mono-alcohol(s) and/or mono-amine(s), until the calculated NCO gp. content is obtd., and reacting the NCO- functional emulsifier resin thus obtd. with (D) a mixt. of (D1) 30-100 wt% PVB and (D2) 0-70 wt% suitable plasticiser resin(s) in the presence of suitable solvents, until all the NCO gps. are completely reacted, to give a prod. contg. acid gps. in an amt. such that the solid resin has an acid no. of 5-50 mg/g. Also claimed are: (i) aq. PVB dispersions (I) obtd. by this process, and aq. PVB dispersions contg. 0.5-20 wt% organic solvent; (ii) mixts. of aq. binders contg. (I), pref. together with aq. dispersions of phenolic resins or amino resins.

    Abstract: A crosslinkable, fluorine-containing copolymer is described which comprises a) from 10 to 60 mol-% of copolymerized units of a vinyl ester of a highly branched carboxylic acid whose acyl radical has 9 carbon atoms and comprises isomers containing two quaternary carbon atoms to which from 0 to 80 mol-% of isomers containing one quaternary carbon atom together with at least one tertiary carbon atom in the acyl radical are admixed, b) from 20 to 50 mol-% of copolymerized units of a vinyl ester of a short-chain carboxylic acid, where from 50 to 100% of the copolymerized units of this vinyl ester b) are in the OH form obtained by hydrolysis, and c) copolymerized units of a perfluoroolefin of the formula CF2=CFRf in which Rf is F or a perfluoroalkyl radical having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, in an amount which makes the sum of components a)+b)+c) up to 100 mol-%, but with the proviso that at least 10 mol-% of the perfluoroolefin are present in the copolymer. The copolymers are suitable as binders for surface coating compositions of all types, in particular for industrial finishes.

    Abstract: A fluorine-containing powder coating is described, comprising a) a crosslinkable, fluorine-containing copolymer, composed of a vinyl ester of a highly branched carboxylic acid, whose acyl radical has 9 carbon atoms and is composed of isomers having two quaternary carbon atoms, to which 0 to 80 mol% of isomers which contain one quaternary carbon atom together with at least one tertiary carbon atom in the acyl radical are admixed, of a vinyl monomer containing OH groups, and of a fluoroolefin of the general formula CF2=CFX, in which X=F, a perfluoroalkyl radical having 1 to 8 carbon atoms or Cl, and b) 20 to 60% by weight of a crosslinking agent suitable for powder coating formulations.
