    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power supply deterioration of which can be suppressed surely at a low cost during storage, a charging controller and control method which can suppress deterioration of the power supply surely at a low cost during storage, and a computer and an electric vehicle applied with the charge control method. SOLUTION: A CPU 102, built into a main battery 64A, detects residual capacity of a battery 106 based on a current flowing through a resistor 108 and delivers a charge request to an embedded controller 80 in the inner circuit of a computer system 10, when the residual capacity drops below a predetermined suitable storage capacity of the battery 106. The embedded controller 80 controls a charger 68 charging the battery 106, in response to the charge request.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a charging system which can enlarge the initial capacity of a battery to be charged and can extend the operation life thereof, a charge control apparatus, a charge control method and a computer to which the charge control method is applied. SOLUTION: The number of charging and discharging cycles of a battery 102 is detected, based on the charging amount of the battery 102 with a charger 68 which is obtained on the basis of a current flowing into a resistance R with an embedded controller 80, the charging condition by the charger 68 is set to provide the battery 102 to have high capacity until the number of charging and discharging cycles reaches, and the charging conditions of the charger 68 are set to give a longer operation life to the battery 102 after the number of charging and discharging cycles has reached the predetermined value.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power supply device, a power supply controller and a method for controlling a power supply, capable of obtaining a start time and a computer capable of obtaining the the start time of the contained power supply device. SOLUTION: The power supply device comprises a memory 104 for storing data which indicates a start date in a main battery 64A as device. Data indicating the start date is stored only once in the memory 104 via a CPU 102, when the battery 64A is actually started to be used by an embedded controller 80. When the start date of the battery 64A, is desired the data indicating the start date is read from the memory 104 by the controller 80.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display information relevant to power consumption of a system component 123 on a display of a PC 100. SOLUTION: An intelligent battery pack 103 transmits information such as voltage and current relevant to the power consumption to a controller 115 through a line 125 when the PC 100 is driven by a battery 105. When power is supplied from the AC adaptor 101 to the component 123, a power source is once switched to the battery pack 103 for time to be required for measurement and the information is displayed by using measuring and communicating functions provided with the pack. Consequently, no special power detecting circuit is required for power supply system from the AC adaptor 101.
